Boeing can sit out spring this year and fall next year and play college for 2.5 years starting in spring 2017.

Boeing gets 3 assists in his first game back with Dubuque. Sure think he could have helped if he would have stuck it out at Tech. Hope for his sake everything works out.

Tim - Per your source is he gone for good or any reason given for the departure? Any chance he comes back to Tech after more junior hockey? I've see a few guys do that with other teams.

There was an article in the local Iowa paper which he was quoted, unfortunately looks like he will not be back...

" I committed to Michigan Tech when I was pretty young, and I don’t think I quite understood everything that went into the process,” Boeing said. “Things didn’t quite work out the way I wanted them to, and I just wasn’t as happy as I wanted to be in playing hockey. I had some long discussions with my family over the Christmas break, and we just kind of figured that it would be in my best interest to come back to Dubuque and pursue a different path.

Trouble with pursueing a different path is the process could be the same no matter where he goes. Or worse because he is going to sit out half of next season. That's if he finds another school to attend. Big risk IMO. I saw him as a regular next season based on his play so far. Hopefully his family didn't give him some bad advice because their expectations weren't met.

I'm sure that half of Atlantic Hockey and, hell, half of the WCHA would be interested in him. After all, a UAH recruit from last year that didn't make it into the system is playing at another WCHA school this year. It happens.

Re: 95th Season of Hockey- Michigan Tech Huskies 2015-2016 - Thread #1

So here is what I know about our upcoming tournament opponents.
1. UCONN- they play very defensive style as we are getting used to in the WCHA. Max Leutinov, a freshman , is the leading scorer by far and is a great pick up for them. They got him late summer. he has like 20 points and the next closest player has like 9. They have been winning a lot more lately and are dangerous. They played Minnesota very tough and lost 3-2 on friday. Having the lead late in the second, before losing it. They also swept Umass- lowell a top 10 team, and beat a good BU team this season. The goaltending is a weak area though and they tend to not have as much scoring punch as they need if they fall behind.
2. YALE- An up and down team, Yale has very good, top 10 quality, players. They have a top goalie, good defense and solid 4 lines of forwards. They played Harvard to a standstill before losing earlier in the year.So the forwards will be at least as good as Michigan's. Though Ryan Hitchcock, one of their top players might or might not be back from world juniors. They typically get outshot in the first and then out shoot the opponent in the second and third. This week they play at UMass before coming out to arizona and I think they will have their 5th game in ten days on sunday.
ASU- also very defensive- they can be tough if you let them score first. You have to be patient, get a goal and then maybe you can find some room. Some real good players, and some more coming in next year. They clog the lanes and you just have to be real careful not to give them counter attack type rushes.
I'm not sure how many people will be at the game but I think Tech will have the most fans there.

there's more, but I'l leave this at that for now.

Tech doggone well better beat UConn. They got us 5-2 on our opener, but Letunov was just on fire (his third was an ENG) that night. The next night, the boys clamped down on him, Carmine was better, and we won 5-2 instead. Tech has too much offensive talent to let the eastern Huskies keep up with them.

I believe there are quite a few Tech fans going. I wouldn't be surprised if we have an HF sighting as well.

BTW. Uconn is already out there and plays on tuesday night vs ASU, then on friday/ sunday. They will have played 5 games in 10 nights after the second game.

That is a pretty interesting statement about a team that has done this exactly twice, ever, against D-1 competition, lost one of those two games, and has scored 36 goals while giving up 69 for the season and has the 55th ranked defense in D-1 while having an offense that is ranked even lower than that--59th.

Re: 95th Season of Hockey- Michigan Tech Huskies 2015-2016 - Thread #1

I'll amend that to just "can be tough"... was tied with Omaha more than half way through the game, beat lake state twice in the Soo, lead Wisconsin half way thru the game at madison,Played two good games in Alaska, ahead of Clarkson half way thru in the north country.... you get the picture.

Re: 95th Season of Hockey- Michigan Tech Huskies 2015-2016 - Thread #1

Chris Gerrie is not listed as committed on the BCHL website. Oversight or decommit?

I see they revamped their site so something could have been missed with that transition...
EDIT: I think they must be working through some hiccups because I can see a handful of committed players no longer listed as committed including
Dante Fabbro (BU), Colton Kerfoot (Harvard), Jackson Cressey (Princeton), Jordan Kawaguchi (PC), Vimal Sukumaran (PC), Austin McIlmurray (SHU) and these are top 20ish scorers.

Not a lot from the Mel P show, it was half Joe Shawhan and half Mel on the phone due to practices with no school.

Mel's not sure if there is video streaming this weekend.

Brett Boeing: This will be the only time it's talked about and then we'll move on. Brett called after the GLI and said he was going to pursue other opportunities. He wasn't enjoying himself/the game. He's back to juniors and we wish him the best. Mel just wishes he would've given it a little more time. Everyone wants instant success these days. You have to earn your way, wish he would've hung in there. Thanks to Brett for his contributions. It does give someone else an opportunity, we have a number of guys that want ice time.

The NLI Press Release is out. These names are in addition to Mitch Reinke, Cooper Watson and Angus Redmond that signed last year.
Strong group. Really happy with assistants recruiting work, all are good players, plus good people and students.
Dirk noted it looks like there's plenty of speed. Mel agreed.

Somehow, this is Yager's fault.
