Good start, but need to play better than they did tonight to beat Yale. Still, they did look better than the GLI semi vs. MSU, which I attribute to not taking 2.5 weeks off.

Tech will play in the championship game at noon, mt on sunday.
Great game to watch. lot's of Tech fans. I thought they played better than almost any game this year, especially the third and forth lines, though they did juggle the lines. Would have been nice to get a goal on one of the breakaways. Uconn's Leutinov was the real deal.

I think it's clearly good to have Steman back. He took a few games to get back into the swing of things, but with an assist vs. Michigan and a goal vs. UConn, I feel he's poised to contribute at least 10 points in the second half of our conference schedule.

It was a good night, got to see some old friends (John Hartman, Malcolm Gwilliam, and John Scott) plus met Petan's dad, and of course the Hiskies got the win and will be in the championship game Sunday!

That was our first game ever against UConn, and tomorrow's game will be our fourth ever against Yale.

Previous games against Yale:

January 7, 1930: Michigan Tech 0, Yale 15 (at Yale?)
December 29, 1969: Michigan Tech 5, Yale 3 (RPI Invitational semifinal)
December 27, 1974: Michigan Tech 7, Yale 3 (Great Lakes Invitational semifinal)

Sturos, Baltus, Gillies, all played very well. Night and day difference from a month ago.

I think it's bush league for the championship game to be first, but ASU wanted to play in the afternoon game no matter what.
Yale, is big in the back, but the forwards are smaller, quicker guys. Much quicker than UConn.
Defensively they are very solid.
I asked several local people about the stadium issue for ASU and the story I got was that they are waiting for the Coyotes to decide on if they are going to re lease the Gila arena or go to a new place.
The City of Phoenix is offering them a good deal to go to downtown and/or to Tempe, and partner with ASU on a new rink. Aside from the downside of having to share a rink, or having 750 fans show up in a 20,000 seat arena, the Coyotes are trying to get the best deal they can and it takes a while for this stuff to happen.
Personally that's not optimum, and if you're the Coyotes, why would you share with ASU. There are too many negatives.

Yale is going to be a great game, I have faith, can we finally win some hardware....

Yes, that was a tough season. I didn't stay until the end of that game.

Without the click, click, click......I don't believe you. :)

Looking forward to tomorrow's game and helping the boys with some atmosphere in the building. Hopefully it gets us to a much needed win against a quality opponent.

And showing the Michigan slappy that wrote about us in his Facebook group blog how a REAL and traveling student section operates....not his wet dream of Children of Yost from twenty plus years ago.

While I appreciate the kudos and the publicity, Mitch's Misfits and Alumni of Mitch's Misfits will out cheer, out class, and out perform the Children of Yost any day of the week. Michigan doesn't travel for hockey, they curse in their regular chants, and know exactly two songs total - not exactly cunning. They had all of 5000 maximum in the stands at the GLI in Detroit, right in their backyard a week ago - no student section. Tech had 6000 with a student section of almost 100.

Comparing us to them as if we aspire to be like them is insulting to me as a partial founder of Mitch's Misfits. I'm glad we were able to bring back some form of nostalgia for that poor soul, but false comparisons and misguided delusions of grandeur is a far cry from what showed up at this Tournament so far. The 1250-1500 total that showed for two games (being generous) is not going to get any better with a BigTen team replacing Tech. Colorado teams don't travel at all. Sorry to burst the bubble.

This has been an enjoyable tournament so far, even with the kinks they are trying to work out of the programming on the fly, and we are happy to introduce the area ASU and hockey fans alike to true College Hockey experiences and filling an empty arena with entertainment and atmosphere.

Here's the link to the group post I'm referring to. You guys can check it out. I'm sure I'm overreacting, but I know we offer way more than what we are compared to, and it irritates me to no end.

I can't believe how many unforced turnovers Tech is making in this game. Lackadaisical play from a lot of players, particularly Birks and Petan.

Birks has been a turnover machine all season, it's hurt us big more than once.

Other than the turnovers I would say this is a really good game, been very entertaining to watch but also nerve wracking with no score. The ASU announcers are amazed at how loud an supportive Tech's fans are and how crazy our chants are, lol.

Well fudge, outplaying them and give up first goal and probably game based on the way Yale and Lyon is playing.

Edit: Spoke too soon, woo!

Sounds like it will be a 5-minute OT, then a shootout. Pretty lame for a tournament title game.

We've been informed by the PAC 12 broadcasters that each team gets a point in their league standings by making it to overtime.

Also, the color commentator believes Tech should be ranked in the top 25 after this game.

Lol, I will give him the benefit of the doubt that I think he meant that each team gets a point if it goes to a shootout.
