#8 Wisconsin @ Ohio State, Feb 14 & 15

Re: #8 Wisconsin @ Ohio State, Feb 14 & 15

By the way I can't help but notice all the love you Badgers share with the Gophers. How long has that been going on, since Cain & Abel?

You know how much you guys love Michigan in football? When it comes to hockey, we love the Rodents even more.

I don't know... at least with Badger/Gopher hockey, you can tell which fanbase is filled with insufferable self-righteous buffoonery and which one is filled with tacky drunken buffoonery. In Buckeye/Wolverine football, they're all kind of insufferable.

Perhaps, at least with those who still choose to live like drunken frat boys. I'm married to a Wolverine as Dad's family is from Michigan and Mom's is from Ohio so you have no idea how bad it really can get when it's truly in your blood! LOL!

One of the things that I think will help us is that we have NHL regulation size ice so when you have teams like Wisconsin and Minnesota come here who are used to big ice they are the ones who have to adapt, not us.

Badgers practice on an NHL size rink through
out the season.

Wisconsin rumored to have a full roster for the first time in it's last dozen games with the possible return of Tyler Barnes (10g 11a 21p 22GP) to the line up. Of the Badgers 8 losses and 2 ties, 6L and 2T have come without one or more key badgers (Joel Rumpel, Nic Kerdiles, Sean Little, and Tyler Barnes) available to play. The remaining two losses coming with a full roster @MN in November.

And with our current coach a former captain for your team what more can I say except Steve Rohlik really knows his hockey.
Thanks for giving him some experience. We’re going to need a replacement for Eaves eventually. ;)

Isn't Oz still available? Man they really scre*ed him here. A complete blindside firing!
Pardon my ignorance, has anything more ever come out concerning why exactly was Oz fired? All I've ever read said something about "differences of opinion in management", but I always found that odd since the hired his assistant.

Basically he rubbed some people the wrong way that he shouldn't have. Also his "new culture" of hockey meant for the most part of snubbing our old culture which seemed to include our alumni. The problem is our AD is a moron and NEVER met with Oz to discuss problem issues and let him go without warning a week after he got us back to the CCHA championship weekend. A classless move.
There were several reasons Rohlik was hired in his place. One, he was already here and had good credentials in his own right and had 3 years under his belt with our program. Second by retaining him we had a better chance of retaining a number of commitments from our recruits and not having the shelf bare for the next guy. Third, after the way they let Oz go what qualified coach would want to come here if he could get the boot without warning?

Re: #8 Wisconsin @ Ohio State, Feb 14 & 15

That worked out well.
Every program will lose some recruits when there's a coaching change. Some come to play for the coach more than the program.
I don't think Rohlik will have trouble getting good talent here.

Ohio State lost more than any team I've seen in a long time, especially for promoting an assistant coach. Dougherty, Stepan and Sheehy alone were three huge blows.

Speculation on my part here but I think 2 factors came into play that one, the way Oz was let go and two, it was about a month before the announcement of Rohlik being made head coach and not just interim one. That's too long for some recruits to be left hanging.

Didn't one of those recruits want to stay closer to home due to an ill parent or am I mistaken?

I'd take Oz or Rohlik.

This is going to be another tight series. UW needs to solidify their spot in the tight b6. I hope Barnes is back for UW, but having Kerdiles back who missed the last OSU series is key.

Re: #8 Wisconsin @ Ohio State, Feb 14 & 15

As of this evening about 250 seats shy of selling out the lower bowl for Saturday's game.

What does that mean in terms of attendance?

And I'm not sure about recruits and family illness, but I think I heard one of those guys decided he'd like to play for the defending B1G champs. :p
