#8 Wisconsin @ Ohio State, Feb 14 & 15

Re: #8 Wisconsin @ Ohio State, Feb 14 & 15

It's because we're less excited. And I know a bunch of us have less to say about the game because we weren't watching. I was checking on my phone at the women's game, and heard the end.
Hopefully tomorrows game will be as intense. It's on NBC Sports Network.
I was disappointed in the low attendance tonight but we got hit with snow right before the beginning of rush hour that jammed traffic throughout the city. I did see one Wisconsin fan tonight wearing shorts! Our winters here must be like your springs!

I would normally watch, but I'll be at the women's game, where over 15,000 fans are expected tonight! As for the guy in shorts...it depends heavily on the wind :).

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I was at the women's game and don't recall hearing any scoring updates from the men's game. I knew that was a bad sign as they typically never show scores from games our other teams are losing (or have lost).

I didn't see any updates on the big screen. The only updates I got were via mobile devices.

Like DC said, with the game not being broadcast it's a little difficult to comment on the play. I listened on the radio, but I've found that despite Voice of Wisconsin Hockey, Brian Posick's superlative call, the impression you're left with doesn't always match the play. Given Shuey's post game comments, (he was as hot as I've heard him this season) and the Badger's post game interviews, I'd say the Badger's are pretty disappointed with the inexplicably slow start. Obviously if the plumbing doesn't come up so big for Frey it's a different game, but that's on the Badger's for not putting the puck away. Four pipes are worth the same points as hitting the back wall.

Personally I'm not shocked we lost, it happens, just surprised that outside of maybe Mersch (8 shots) and maybe Schulze, so many guys weren't ready to go. It's a fairly veteran team, it's getting a bit late in the season to still be playing so inconsistently on Friday's. Plenty of opportunities for lessons learned by now. Can only hope it sinks in this time.

Shuey said something like, "Ok, so we'll come out tomorrow with a fire lit, and play good from the start. Probably even win. Big deal." I'm sure the point being that's not the way champions operate. At any rate, expect Angry Badgers tonight.

Posick estimated the crowd between 1500 and 2,106. Somebody said it's weird to be at a Badger game where you can hear the players and coaches talking on the ice. Hard to imagine.

How is it that a B1G Hockey referee doesn't even make it to the game? I realize there was snow, but I assume a hockey ref has seen it before?

Kudo's to the Buckeye's for being ready and getting their licks in early.

Re: #8 Wisconsin @ Ohio State, Feb 14 & 15

Like I said, Wisconsin certainly was not without opportunity. At the beginning of the 3rd they ran the exact same play that got us our first goal. Fortunately Frey was able to get back to the open side of the net in time to make the play.
I know it's hard for Badger fans to accept that Ohio State given their previous track records and the slow start we had this season can match and beat teams at the level of play Wisconsin and Minnesota perform at but under Oz and now Rohlik we are a team on the rise.
Our guys love Rohlik and believe in his philosophy and he is an EXCELLENT coach and I hope all doubts are gone now that because we elevated an assistant to head coach that it would set our program back again.
Both teams believe they have something to prove tonight which should make some GREAT hockey!

Just to clarify, I quoted your post because it referred to updates during the women's game not where they came from (phone vs arena). I was a the women's game too and kept waiting for a men's score update and either I missed it or they held true to their tradition of not telling us when our teams are losing.

Re: #8 Wisconsin @ Ohio State, Feb 14 & 15

Drives me crazy when the UW won't update any other Badger games in which they are losing or end up losing. Do they think the crowd will start rioting or crying? Just update the results and move on. We can handle it.

Don't know how bad the weather truly was, but with cheap tickets/free parking/beer sales and a decent Big Ten opponent in town, I don't understand the small crowd. Maybe like here in Madison, the Saturday night crowd will be a lot bigger.

I am going to the women's game tonight and am hoping for no updates...that way it will feel live when I watch it on the DVR tomorrow.

I'm in the same situation and plan on watching it late night after Fill the Bowl. Unfortunately, no updates will be a very bad sign.

They played "Enter Sandman" in Columbus. That'll pump up the road team more than the home team!

Re: #8 Wisconsin @ Ohio State, Feb 14 & 15

Congrats to Wisconsin on the hard fought Victory tonight. Splitting this series and the season series as well against the #8 team in the country is not so bad.

Re: #8 Wisconsin @ Ohio State, Feb 14 & 15

A win is a win, but it wasn't pretty. Fortunately Zengerle showed up tonight and was in the right place at the right times. Badger control large chunks of play, but didn't look sharp at all in doing so. Was Kerdiles playing the whole game? Didn't notice him much until the last 5 seconds of the game...

Badgers just looked sluggish the whole night, and so many mental mistakes... OSU is a good team, can do some damage yet the rest of the way... Badgers lucky to get out of Ohio with the split the way we played.

No SOG the first six and a half minutes. Ugh.

Good Luck the rest of the regular season Buckeyes! Then of course you'll pardon me if I hope you lay an egg.

OSU had many scoring opportunities but kept missing the net. However I thought we were playing ragged tonight overall and again couldn't get the PP working. Wisconsin on the other hand was much better at moving and controlling the puck tonight. I don't think we were playing as physical a game tonight as last night and didn't use our bodies to take Wisconsin off the puck along the boards.
Congratulations to the Badgers on the win and perhaps we'll see each other in the B1G playoffs for the rubber match.

Yea i agree with you on all points. They messed up so many odd man rushes last night with horrible passes or just bad decisions. I thought Wisconsin was the better team with the puck most of the night. As for the PP just like Friday night they had some good looks off the initial entry but once the puck was cleared they had trouble getting set back up and when they did get set up Wisconsin clogged shooting lanes and the Buckeyes didnt move the puck well enough. Like i said i am happy with the Split even though 2nd place is probably out of reach now.
