#8 NU @ #2 BU...For A Trip to the Garden

Re: #8 NU @ #2 BU...For A Trip to the Garden

seriously.

nu peeps just need to realize that their team aint that good. take away the bentley win and arizona state sweep and it's dam near another under .500 season.

you know what??? kill a penalty. like she said. isn't like every other team bu's played the last month couldn't do it.

Maybe this should be the new standard rather than the pairwise. If you gave up a PPG to BU, you are not allowed to participate in the NCAA tournament.

Chn twitter has a pic of the goal. Something doesn't look right in regard to where ruck is and where krys put the puck. Did ruck misplay the sequence? Will have to check the video.

The wrap around type shot by JFK put Ruck on the post. The rebound shot happened so fast that Ruck had no chance to get back into position. My 11 year old could have buried that shot. Live I didn't even see how we scored, I thought JFKs shot might have trickled past Ruck.

JFC look, I get you despise Quinn and think he's the WORST COACH EVAH, but this sounds like you wanted them to lose and that NU has a case to take to the league and get both wins overturned. Penalties were all legit, like the two late ones called on BU late in the third on Friday. The difference was, BU killed their penalties, NU didn't. NU had a chance to end it on Friday. They didn't. BU had a chance to end it and they did.

IF rolls were reversed BU fans would have burnt he building down. BU was better than NU, I am not disputing that! It just BS that a very marginal call gets made in a tie game with 1 minute left. But its the BU arrogance that makes me hate BU

Re: #8 NU @ #2 BU...For A Trip to the Garden

I had a terrific dinner at Brown Sugar Cafe with my son and his GF and that was the highlight of the evening for sure. What can I say? except it is what it is. The fact is we really were not the better team. NU is one dimensional team and was all over the ice again to night. Our hounds are often out of position, undisciplined and poorly coached and as a result no 2 goal lead is ever safe. We were 0-4 against a superior and more talented BU team this season and the fact is that if NU played BU 1000 times we might win 50 or 100 games tops. What I saw tonight I have come to expect. NU was marginal on D and horrible in transition. That said, we still could have had a chance to win and in the grand scheme of things, we finished the season exactly where we should be in 8th place and about perhaps the 5th the or 6th best team in HE. Granted in spite of all the hapless, out of position and lacking fundamental hockey we played for 45 of the 60 minutes tonight, we still could have won if not for the continued bone head play of what is DIV1 worst Defenseman in Garret Cockrell. I have never seen a worse DIV one D man in 30 years of watching and 20 years of playing, he is under sized, lacks skating skills, is slow and totally S U C K S. The kid is burned more than bread in a $2 toaster. He is a DIV 3 D man playing D1 and how he has a scholarship at this level is utter lunacy and insanity at once. Given the talent and level of expectation this season was actually somewhat of a failure in spite of the early injuries. Yes, folks a season wasted as if there was ever a more talented Husky squad offensively I have not seen it. To be certain any season with 18 wins is a great season by NU standards but given the offensive promise this teams final results were a big disappointment. We do only one thing well cycle the puck in the O zone, from there is C+ hockey in every level of measure form Net Minding to D! The over all issue is that I still believe that JM is a good recruiter and a poor hockey coach, and until we fix this we won’t be able to beat BC and BU with any level of consistency regardless of our talent. Let’s face it this weekend the better team won hands down. So once again its been a pleasure ladies and gentlemen, talk to you all in October. Oh this weekend was the nail in the coffin for ZAR Hobey hopes, which one of you think he is 1/2 the offensive player that Kevin Roy is. The fact is, in case you don't remember, KR is twice as talented and would have taken this weekend over when needed. ZAR scored a lot of his goals on PP and had multiple point nights against week teams and this weekend he proved to me and the committee that the best player in the country is at Union! Sorry! He had a great season but he is a bit of a fraud in the point total he does not have the talent of a true offensive zealot, I mean he is a 3 way player more so than KR ever was but when the chips were down he had nothing because he really is just a very good player not a great one.

. I think this guy was beat up, or something by Madigan back in the day. But he flip flops more than a 2 year old learning to skate. Last year he said he predicted they would not a win a game 2nd half of year, well they lost just 1. I take nothing this guy says with any regard, definitely has a axe to grind.

The arrogance is a contagion they caught from the BC crowd. And WRT to the zebras, I believe the bone(s) of contention involve line calls more than penalty calls.

Even I would have made that penalty call last night. I would have thrown up in my mouth a bit, but it was a good call.

Re: #8 NU @ #2 BU...For A Trip to the Garden

Enquiring minds would like to know: Are NU fans more angry they lost a game in the same way they have for years, or that ZAR's season is over and it's Vecchione's to lose now because voters care about postseason success

JKF shot (no pun intended), Ruck blocked shot but very juicy rebound came to Krys' stick. Wide open net and goal.

Excuse me while I find my eyes that rolled so far back in my head.

I'm trying to find your post whining about NU receiving 2 power plays in the last 8 minutes of the 3rd in Friday's tie game but am having trouble finding it. Can you help?

The roles were reversed on Friday - NU had two late third period PPs including one disastrous call on Fabbro after an NU player committed the exact infraction a minute earlier and it went uncalled. Had NU scored on that PP and BU lost the reason for our loss would've been because we dug ourselves a needless early hole and spent two periods trying to be cute on offense instead of getting as many pucks at Ruck as possible. The officiating was bad on Friday but it was fine both ways last night.

Northeastern lost both games because they went 0-for the weekend on the PP and their D put themselves in position for those two calls to be made by allowing BU forwards to outskate and out-position them at key points in the game. You all can keep complaining all you want and spewing conspiracy theories but if your defenders defended Keller and JFK properly and didn't get beat horribly by both at critical points of the game, those calls don't get made. Don't give the referee the opportunity to make that call, both times they opened the door as wide as possible.

Hey BC fans have had a lot more to be arrogant about over the last 15-20 years!

Both, for different reasons. The former because as you said, it's been a recurring script, including twice in two nights. Makes it all the more painful when you've seen it before, you know how the story can/will end, but you believe it'll be different. The latter because you're right, postseason success matters to the voters even when it should not have as big an impact as it does. You and I have talked about this, and myself and others have laid out the ZAR case, but now Vecchione has a chance to put up more points and his supporters can say LOOK HE WENT FURTHER AND SCORED MORE. Still believe ZAR is the deserving candidate, even with the season ending here.

We have, and I'm sure we'll have a few more spirited discussions over there. It'll be intereating when locks posts the poll considering there's no telling how the western guys (especially the tech and psu fans) will vote.

disagree.

scarlet and mookie sit on opposite sides of the rink and txt back and forth, and every penalty called on bu we complain... AT THE KIDS. cause they are penalties. and when they get away with it we still ask why they don't play with more discipline.

bu has had late penalties called on them before. and in ot. it happens.

(and if jack would have called it you know it's true :D )

Re: #8 NU @ #2 BU...For A Trip to the Garden

The NCAA can't have things both way. If bracket integrity and a fair tournament is what you want, you cannot reward a 3 or 4 seed like Providence or North Dakota with a home game. Not fair to the higher seed that has to play them, as you are making it exponentially tougher to play in the opponent's home town, even worse at the actual home rink for North Dakota. For "integrity" sake, that shouldn't happen. If your worried about attendance, then go back to what you used to do late 80's- have a best 2 out of 3 at the home ice of the higher seed in the quarters and round of 16. Straight 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15, etc. Attendance shouldn't be an issue then, and the higher seed always gets rewarded.
Don't understand how much money the NCAA makes off these regionals anyway- depending on matchups some of these places are empty. Had an extra ticket few years ago in Albany and literally could not give the ticket away- no scalpers even!

I whole heartedly agree with most of what you said. Providence should not be awarded the opportunity (nor should they have been in 2015) to play in Providence solely for attendance reasons, as they are not the host of the East Regional. Brown is the host as they were in 2015. On the other hand North Dakota has the right to play in the West Regional because they are the host. That is how it is set up. You get rewarded for all the work, investment, and responsibilities of hosting a Regional IF you get into the NCAA Tournament. Also, North Dakota would not be playing in their home rink as the Regional is in Fargo and not Grand Forks.
