#6 Boston College at #3 Clarkson -- 2014 NCAA Quarterfinal: Eagles Invade PotsVegas

Re: #6 Boston College at #3 Clarkson -- 2014 NCAA Quarterfinal: Eagles Invade PotsVeg

A fair write-up of the game after a tough loss - until you got to the end, speaking of the possibility of a top WCHA team coming out to play BC next season:

"-- but it looks like they're too busy losing to each other to come east for a real challenge."

Made me smile and do one of these at the same time:

I agree. I thought it was a very humorous addition to a very well written article. Well done Grant.

Would be nice to see a team come out and play a few good teams while out here. Minnesota is notorious for having a very weak non-con schedule.

We used to play Harvard every year. They opted out of that.

Why thank you

It's a really weird situation all around, honestly. BC has been trying for a few years now to get a WCHA team to come out east. The last one, if I'm remembering this correctly, was Duluth a few years back.

Minnesota comes east not once but twice this year, and schedules Yale and freaking COLGATE. Are you frigging kidding me?

Re: #6 Boston College at #3 Clarkson -- 2014 NCAA Quarterfinal: Eagles Invade PotsVeg

MN just plays part of their NC schedule later than most. :D

Minnesota 2012-2013 NC record 9-0

Colgate (2)
St Lawrence (2)
New Hampshire (2)
#6 North Dakota (1)
#3 Boston College (1)
#2 Boston University (1)

MN's SOS is plenty loaded year after year, I trust in Frost to create the right balance.

If "a few" means "one", then you're remembering correctly. UMD was out to Boston in October of 2012 and split with BC.

Colgate was a return trip for the one Colgate made out here last season. I'd feel more obligated to apologize for Yale had powers like Clarkson and Harvard been able to sweep the Bulldogs. Cornell did, but Staenz was gone both times they played.

Huh. Yeah I guess it just felt longer ago than that. But knowing that we'll have our second straight year of no WCHA opponent after having one most years is just kind of lame.

Whose fault is that? If you wanted a WCHA opponent so bad, you could have won Saturday and Friday, and by Sunday, you'd have had one.

But no! Instead you were off making bargains like, "We'll lose to you in the Hockey East championship game, if you'll take out Minnesota for us." When you make a deal with the devil, sometimes he doesn't follow through on his end. Although some of the BU kids had a different understanding of what "take out Minnesota" meant. And in the end, it didn't even matter, because Clarkson had a say in the matter. If you want to play us so bad, invite us to your Bean Thing. (We won't come, because we study during the week, but it's nice to be invited.) :)

All kidding aside I would like to see the Gophers play BC for a series like the men's teams have done recently. Very similar playing styles would make for some good matchups. Wouldn't mind a top ECAC team either like Clarkson or Cornell since they have been there, done that, bought the tee shirt with Princeton, Yale, and Colgate.

With Yale, the Gophers have been there, but they haven't been here, so I'd expect that to be repaid at some point, and the reverse may be true with Princeton. The Gophers were at St. Lawrence last year, and I wouldn't mind that to be repaid, because the Saints are always a well-coached team that can skate. Rumor has it UM will be playing a Boston school in the near future, just not the Eagles.

Northeastern, BU, or Harvard works. To quote Jules Winnfield, hockey coach "Anytime...Anyplace...Bring it on, Edited for family viewing, just bring it on."

I keep hearing UNH in Florida, but that might be an echo from somewhere.

Yikes! TTT already tried inviting a non-Boston team to the Bean Thing one year and that did not turn out so well...Brown '93 Champs :)

Grant was only ~5 years old at that time so he knows better now.

SERIOUSLY, technically Brown still has the Beanpot since they've never had to defend their title!
