#4 BC vs. #1 Wisconsin - NCAA Semis: BadgerBadgerBadgerBadger... MUSHROOM, MUSHROOM!

Re: #4 BC vs. #1 Wisconsin - NCAA Semis: BadgerBadgerBadgerBadger... MUSHROOM, MUSHR

Definitely reusing this thread this year.
****can the Badgers.
Gotta feel bad for the Badgers, they had such a nice season only to get the tough draw in the Frozen Four.
It's cute that the Badger fans genuinely think they're going to win.
Right? I mean, whoop-de-do, they won the WCHA. Pretty sure Plattsburgh State could have done that.
I really don't think the Wisconsin fans know what their team is in for. This is going to be a *joy*.
Oh yeah and all this talk about east/west historical crap is useless if you're trying to have an intelligent conversation. The fact of the matter is, this is not a BC team that compare to years past.

And I respect the hell out of Mark Johnson. One of the best coaches in the sport's history. So you know he is preparing his team to play what will certainly be their toughest of the year. Let's face it, Wisconsin is going to need a perfect game to have a shot at beating BC.
I'm as serious as a heart attack.

I really, really hope Wisconsin thinks it can hang with BC with anything other than a perfect performance. Anything less than top speed against BC will put the game out of reach early.
Im not "predicting" anything based on the quarterfinal. Im just saying that if Wisconsin comes out with anything less than their best, it's going to be a long flight back to Madison.
Oh me oh my, I'm not being wary of Wisconsin! Oh Lord'h'mercy, how dare I not show the Badgers the proper *respect*!

Forgive me for not drinking the WCHA kool-aid and falling to my knees to worship the ****ing Badgers.
****can the Badgers.

Discuss.

Wisconsin is far and away the best team in the country.
I think that you may have screwed yourself karma wise by using a thread where your last post included that statement with no disclaimer -- unless you are trying to go for the soft-sell, poor-us routine, and I don't think that's your natural schtick. :p

To be the best, you had to beat the best, and Wisconsin did that last year by taking down the Eagles in the semifinals. Much respect to what they were able to accomplish in that regard, but beating the BC juggernaut two years in a row? Come on ARM.

Are any of the Eagles fans on the forum coming to Duluth?

Unfortunately, none of the ones I know. That's 1) a bit of a haul and 2) an expensive one. And I haven't been at the job I just started long enough to start taking PTO days. I'll be following along on the interwebs again this year.

Re: #4 BC vs. #1 Wisconsin - NCAA Semis: BadgerBadgerBadgerBadger... MUSHROOM, MUSHR

I have ever seen Wisconsin play and didn't watch the game online last night, but a 3-1 (EN at the end) game vs Mercyhurst is not the display of dominance I expected. While Mercyhurst has been there the last few years, they lost twice this year to unranked RMU. In their cHA semi-final game, it took a big effort to beat Syracuse (who had 1 league win including 8 games vs Niagara and RMU) and then lost to RMU in the final. I would have expected Wisco to roll over Hurst like Minn did with UND. I think I will have to take BC to avenge their semi final loss like Cornell did last night. I am predicting an all East final. BC vs Cornell!

LOL. You just can't help yourself, can you......

Tony is like the 40-something pitchers that once had a good fastball, but now survive on guile. So a word of warning for when you see that curveball in the dirt: remember, he wants you to swing.

Good one. :D

The shocker was TTT20 voted for UW to win against BU. Where's your Hockey East/Bawsten pride?

You have not been following along long. This was the most predictable prediction of them all.

P.S....IIRC TTT is from the Nutmeg State.

The Badgers are going down.

Re: #4 BC vs. #1 Wisconsin - NCAA Semis: BadgerBadgerBadgerBadger... MUSHROOM, MUSHR

Obviously Wisconsin has a better record than BC but the key in the first few minutes is going to see how Wisconsin adjusts to playing a high-speed team. After a few weeks against "virtual lock" doormats like Minnesota, Minnesota-Duluth, Mercyhurst, etc. it'll be interesting to see if Wisconsin has the pace to keep up with a team that's been able to sharpen its game against notoriously stingy Vermont, a BU team that probably would have gone all the way if they didn't get shafted by the refs yesterday, and the unbeatable-since-December St. Lawrence juggernaut.

Sorry, I couldn't let this one pass? Please explain how they got shafted by the refs yesterday. They has 3 PPs late in the game and if not for those, it never would've gone to OT. Sperry was throwing her stick all over the ice and twice flat punched players with her blocker (she got called for roughing once). I really don't see how BU has any argument that they got shafted. In the end, I really think it came down to the fact that Cornell was better conditioned to play 2 back to back games. BU had some good scoring chances and Cornell hit at least 5 posts/crossbars. But once Cornell survived the 1st OT, they pretty much carried the play 2nd and 3rd OT. But all girls were exhausted and the shots werent with the usual velocity and Rougeau made some great moves to get around 3 BU players, Wakefield didn't have the energy to back check and Rougeau got off a nice backhander that slid thru 5 hole. It was really a great game and shouldn't be implied that somehow Cornell stole the win wih help from the refs. Doesn't do the game, or players on either side justice!

If you can't see how BU got shafted, I don't think there's anything that can be done for you. And that's coming from me, someone who hates BU more than anything on the planet and who WANTED BU to lose.

But I agree with Joe. Wisconsin is going to have to adjust to playing a superior team who has been playing superior opponents to have a shot.

Re: #4 BC vs. #1 Wisconsin - NCAA Semis: BadgerBadgerBadgerBadger... MUSHROOM, MUSHR

And why the WCHA is a weaker conference was already discussed ad nauseum last year in this very thread. Just go back a few pages, I don't feel like going over it again.

Gotta love the midwestern elitists thinking they're God's gift to women's hockey every effing year despite overwhelming evidence right in front if their faces

Evidence please?! Did you actually watch the game while at the BC game? In the 6 periods of hockey there were 8 penalties called on Cornell and 10 on BU. the Terriers scored 3 PP goals to tie the game in the 3rd. I don't think 18 penalties between 2 teams combined over 120 minutes of hockey indicates either team got shafted. Seems pretty fair to me One could argue there were plenty on BU in OT that weren't called (and I am more of the mindset to let them play unless it's blatant).

I do agree I think BC will prevail against Wisco as I stated above.....thought their victory over Mercyhurst was less than impressive.

They have no evidence because there is none. When they get in this mode, there is no logic (except when it comes to BC being better than wisconsin :D ;)).

I also was very unimpressed with Wisconsin's play in the quarter final. Minnesota definitely appears to be the best in the west, unless Wisconsin pulls it together quickly. Wisconsin certainly has more than enough talent to do so.
