#4 BC vs. #1 Wisconsin - NCAA Semis: BadgerBadgerBadgerBadger... MUSHROOM, MUSHROOM!

Re: #4 BC vs. #1 Wisconsin - NCAA Semis: BadgerBadgerBadgerBadger... MUSHROOM, MUSHR

I hate those coincidental hook/trip & dive calls. They shouldn't be allowed to call that. If an infraction was committed against the offensive player, then that is why she fell. If there was no foul, then a diving call would be allowed.

OTOH, Deluce goes down more than any other elite player I've ever seen, and there's been no improvement over 4 years.

I saw Deluce at Stanstead when she was about 15 or so. She was a great player but a real diver then. Too bad because she is a player.

It seemed to me that a lot of players on both teams were going down, much more so than usual. Part of it was they were trying so hard they would just lose their balance. And part of it was that players were doing everything humanly possible to prevent an opposing player from getting an edge.

While watching the webcast we were listening to our local radio broadcast of the game. He stated that before the Frozen Four they'd added an additional full inch to the thickness of the ice, making it 2-1/2 inches thick. That's way thicker than standard for hockey, and as a result, the ice was softer and crappy. That may have contributed to skaters being a little less stable out there.

Any reason why?

TonyTheTiger20, where are you?

YeeeeHaaaa!
I'm right here. Utterly crushed.
As I said, what is he smoking, I really want some.
It was a fun week. You guys taking Joe and I seriously was hilarious. I can't believe how far you guys let us take it.

Good luck Sunday. I'm going to go crawl into a hole and die.

as you should.
by the way, Molly Schaus deserves a gold star. she's the ONLY reason this game wasn't 10-1. She played amazing. shots were 46 to 25. wow. GREAT job Molly!

UW failed to capitalize on a small handful of rebounds she left but did put home a few nice goals. the 2nd goal (PP goal) was one of the prettiest of the year.
from my seat, The only 2 real opportunities and goals by BC were on coast to coast selfish plays that ended up working. As expected, stack was non-existent looked like Mark matched lines to neutralized stack line with Duggan/Decker/Ammerman, and it worked.

fun game to watch. a little lopsided shots and play but score was closer than everyone expected.

all "homer-ism" aside... this game being close was terrific for Women's Hockey on the east coast. the Hockey East has come a long way and BC showed better than expected tonight.

I didn't even see the game, and I wanted to pass out when I got the text updates. What a sad ending for BC after an obiously spirited effort. I'm halfway glad I didn't see the game because I would have been extremely sad watching that unfold, but I should probably watch the video at some point because it's likely one of the best games BC has ever played.

:(

'grats Wisconsin, good luck.

Chin up my friend. If there is anything worse than an overzealous fan it is a bandwagon fan. I'd take you and Joe over these other pretenders any day. You got to be part of some amazing memories.....and BC Hockey will live to skate another day.

It's becuase they are covering up the Erie Otters stuff on the ice..

They have to go back to that after the Frozen Four is over..

Read more here: Crews prepare Erie’s Tullio Arena for 2011 Frozen Four

SOP is to cut the ice to 3/8ths or 1/2 and repaint. These guys took the quick way with the poor result. Building was pretty warm to boot, and had only 1/4 of the lights on so it was a dungeon. Place is pretty dumpy, but I understand there is a complete renovation coming soon.

Re: #4 BC vs. #1 Wisconsin - NCAA Semis: BadgerBadgerBadgerBadger... MUSHROOM, MUSHR

Game was much closer than Wisco anticipated. They totally underestimated the BC speed, defense, physicalness and those other than Stack. A bounce here or there and there is a different outcome. Can't argue otherwise because there was complete dispair and concern written all over the faces of the Wisco coaches in the final five minutes of the game. Congrats to Wisco for pulling it out because seconds earlier it was almost the other way.

Regarding the ice surface, the players I spoke with indicated it was the worst surface they had practiced and played on all year. Choppy, soft and slanted in the corners. Did Erie have enough time to prep for this event or was this the best they could offer?

Looking forward to a tight match on Sunday. Was hoping to have spent the weekend in Erie (don't here that too much), but congrats to BC for a terrific run of a Beanpot, HE championship and appearance in the Frozen Four. The winning tradition continues at the Heights.

Concern I'll give you -- they look like that all the time, even when they're up 5. Despair? That I doubt, no matter how you spell it.

Your baiting strategy became clear fairly early on. Personally, that's why I limited my participation to a four word "me too" post. I guess you could say I just took a nibble, not a full bite.;)

I've got to give you a lot of credit for creating interest. The WI/BC thread had triple the number of posts of the corresponding Cornell/BU thread.:)

Still, the mostly friendly, mostly analytical tone of the Women's Board is great asset. Defending that asset is honorable thing to do, even when it's clear that the "attack" is largely in jest. And note that the more earnest posts were pretty much right on the money as to how the game actually played out. So while they may have been "hilarious," they were also correct on multiple levels.

The shocker was TTT20 voted for UW to win against BU. Where's your Hockey East/Bawsten pride?

For Tony, apparently BU rivalry fueled hate was greater than HEA love. I can relate; I find it very difficult to vote for UMD no matter how great they may be in any given year.

Shocker? Wisconsin is far and away the best team in the country. Secondly, my hatred of BU is a little maniacal.
