2nd Term Part VIII - The Thin Red Line

Re: 2nd Term Part VIII - The Thin Red Line

Well, it's not that easy to tell, after reading through your usual clutter of insults, whether you are condemning the admin's ex post facto characterization of the attack or its failure to prevent it.

Reading comprehension's a big problem for you, isn't it?

Re: 2nd Term Part VIII - The Thin Red Line

I know I've posted this before, but can I say, I still get a crack out of Old Pio's sig line "Pulitzer Prize winning machine gunner"?

Re: 2nd Term Part VIII - The Thin Red Line

You probably have the other ladies in the chorale swooning at your intellectual prowess, but not me. You're back asking the same question: what did Obama do to "cause" the deaths at Benghazi. Only in a slightly different form. I don't think (and have never said nor implied) that he "caused" the deaths. The Islamist film critics, with their crewserve weapons did that. However, the President and Sec State have an obligation to try to avoid deaths in our diplomatic corps. So far, this administration has been unconvincing that it took that obligation seriously and did all it could to avoid those deaths. And didn't exactly cover itself with glory by dishonestly blaming a terror attack on a video which it knew was not involved.

You pose an impossible standard: I'm supposed to provide specifics when this administration has lied, caviled, obfuscated, covered up and spun this event from the very first minute they learned it was an AQ attack--which was the very first minute.

I suppose an intellectual heavyweight (and Obama water carrier) like you is unable to differentiate between policy failures and acts of God, which would account for your middle school comparisons. Or is that what you're suggesting: what happened at Benghazi was an act of God? "What difference. . .does it make?"

The guy who made certain we saw the photo of him acting all presidential in the Situation Room the night Bin Laden got clipped, wasn't in the room during Benghazi. Where was he? What was he doing? Why could nobody find the CinC to let him know an 8 hour series of attacks was underway on one of our diplomatic outposts? He have something more important on his plate?

This is laughable. Especially with the 9/11 video we have of Bush right after he was told about the Trade Center.

So, GOP STILL decides to go forward with fund raising off of Ben GAZIIIII!!!! Opie, I'm calling you out in public on this one. These are your heroes doing this. Are you approving of this charade?

Here are some of the lowlights:

Other fundraising solicitations about Benghazi include:
A fundraising page from the NRCC with a photo of Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, accompanied by big bold text proclaiming: “Benghazi was a coverup. Demand answers.” — and asking for donations of up to $500.
A May 2 blog post from the National Republican Senatorial Committee titled “Dude, You’re Being Lied To About Benghazi.” The post was in response to former White House spokesman Tommy Vietor’s appearance on Fox News last week where he used the line “Dude, that was like two years ago.” It concludes: “Americans deserve the truth about Benghazi and it’s clear Democrats will not give it to them. Donate today and elect a Republican Senate majority.”
A May email blast from the conservative nonprofit Special Ops OPSEC Education Fund that asks for an “immediate contribution” of $25, $50, $100 or more to “hold Obama and Hillary’s feet to the fire until justice is done.”
A January email from Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in the aftermath of the State of the Union noting that Obama “failed to mention Benghazi, the IRS, or the NSA” and asking for donations.
A John Bolton PAC email from April accused Obama, Clinton and former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta of refusing to take responsibility for “leaving Americans to die at the hands of terrorists.”
An email from Senate candidate Joe Miller saying that there is “strong evidence that senior administration officials crafted a false narrative for purely political purposes.”
An email this week from Rep. Scott Rigell’s (R-Va.) campaign asking for “$5, $10, $20, or $50 to help keep him in Congress and hold the Administration accountable” that also asks “Why didn’t the military respond to the events in Benghazi Were there even military assets in the region available? If not, why not? Who made the decision not to send support? House Republicans are committed to finding out the truth about Benghazi.”
An email from House candidate Andy Tobin accusing Obama of “covering up vital information about what happened that night” and asking for donations.
Conservative pundits and former politicians like Mike Huckabee, Allen West and others have sent emails to their lists, according to the liberal watchdog group Media Matters.

Brad Dayspring, a spokesman for the NRSC, said that there hasn’t been a coordinated effort from the committee to fundraise off of the issue, even though his committee wrote a blog post with a fundraising solicitation about the hearings.

Scumbags.

Scumbags.

I think this is actually a brilliant fundraising strategy. The rich old coots who are holed up in their bunkers get all kinds of red meat: the foreign-sounding Islamic style name of the place, the military angle, the self-centered president, the abandonment of traditional values. They will send checks in early and often. The smart people won't necessarily be swayed, but they'll sit back and smile and keep their mouths shut because it's raising so much money. And anyone who complains about it is probably trying to cover something up. It can go on for years. Brilliant.
It's the equivalent of raising money off the EvilScary Koch Brothers who are trying to take all your stuff and trash the planet. Send money now to stop them both!

In the words of Hillary, "What difference does this possibly make?"

I think you'd be okay with this since there is no cover up it will only embarrass themselves, which is what you're going for, right?

Have fun tossing the cheap insults in response to this one, because I'm sure there will be a few.

The issue is the "cover up," and I use that term loosely, is solely about what was said, not what was done. That truly deserves a "who gives a ****" response.

As Jon Stewart put it, good job uncovering the email that they might have spun the press conferences afterward. But in the grand scheme of things, so what? How is that any different than what any politician does any day of the week? Should we launch a congressional investigation into Ted Cruz every time he lies?

At this point, it's clearly a huge waste of money to continue trying to make this a scandal.

This is precisely why it's going to be hard for anyone with an ounce of logic to vote for an R this cycle. If we're not voting these dumb*ss*s out, we're going to keep getting this same childish behavior.

Spare us the persecution complex already. I will of course enjoy knuckledraggers embarrassing themselves, but I'd prefer they act like competent Representatives. However, I fear that ship has already sailed...

So, they purposely covered up that it was a terrorist attack despite Obama saying it was in the Rose Garden on Friday before Rice even appeared on the talk shows?

This country is a joke when it comes to politics. It's getting more than ridiculous.

This thing is going to be a disaster. Forming a select committee for the purposes of driving up fundraising won't fly with the public and even the lazy newsmedia is being forced to start covering the story. The whole effort has been exposed as a charade and they haven't even selected its members yet. That might be a record. :D

They ginned up the IRS deal again this week as well. What the hell is wrong with these people? The IRS law that applies to the "controversy" is so ****ing ambiguous it's beyond ridiculous.

You can turn that exact same thing around for voting for a D. Bar all current 535 members and get them ALL out to start over. Then maybe there will be a chance.

No you wouldn't. You're so dyed in the wool that you'll rip them no matter what. We've seen that over and over again.

Uh, huh. Same thing, right?

That's why the Dems made deals with W all the time and didn't investigate the **** out of everything he and his administration did. Right? Same, same. And the **** his administration did is light years ahead of anything Obama has done.

Of course Rover would prefer that they act like "competent Representatives," keeping in mind that he believes that only someone who votes the Dem party line could possibly be considered a "competent Representative."

There are no opposing views in the US, so why should they have a voice in Congress?

There still won't be a chance. These people are acting exactly like they have since they were running for election. The problem isn't the politicians, it's the electorate.
