NBC News and the LA Times.

Reportedly Brewer "doesn't want to take any actions that could jeopardize the economic momentum" in Arizona.

Not because it would be morally wrong and most certainly unconstitutional?

Clown show in Arizona... just like every state with Republican state governments.

That has absolutely nothing to do with it. Look at how the bill passed in the first place. And now those same people want it vetoed? Please.

That doesn't excuse her from taking the chicken-**** route and saying it's somehow tied to economics.

How about, "Of course I'll be vetoing that bill as this isn't the time to take a step backwards and all forms of discrimination are by definition a step backwards."

I don't like people who haven't bathed in a week and I refuse to do business with them.

I am a Muslim caterer. Must I serve pork at a Christian wedding on Saturday?

bigotry?

People who haven't bathed = health hazard. No legal issue there.

Muslim caterers = probably don't have pork lying around in the first place. No legal issue there.

Refuse service for any reason on religious grounds = Jews, gays, blacks, Catholics, etc etc refused service under a vague and warped interpretation of religion. Where does it end?

In OctoPio's defense, he has a pretty narrow time window during which he is functioning well enough to post reasonable thoughts, with his mountain time zone location and the sundowning effect kicking in around 6:00 p.m. Throw in time for crafts, naps, and travel to and from the common area, you're probably talking an hour, tops.

Oh, but I can't POSSIBLY just go to a competitor who will be able to give me what I want and accept my business with open arms! That's too difficult!

Ah, the haters are out in force today I see. Glad I haven't spent time in this thread in awhile. Adios.

C'mon Bob, you REALLY didn't expect us to resist taking pot shots at AZ over this, did you? :D

I'll pose the question to you then. Are you okay with a store not serving blacks or Jews just because of the customer's color or religion, and then its the problem of that person to go elsewhere?

Is there any law on the books that says you must do business with the unbathed or that muslim caterers must serve pork?

As a person who has been in business for many years the only folks I refuse to business with are ones who do not pay. I've been bitten several times, those folks can go away. Other than that I'll be glad to take your money even I think you're an idiot :)

Re: 2nd Term Part VII: You May Like Your Doctor But You Can't Keep Her

We've got an activist Judge in Texas that was nominated by Clinton. The implosion should be epic.

U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia cited recent U.S. Supreme Court rulings as having trumped Texas’ moves to ban gay marriage.

“Today’s court decision is not made in defiance of the great people of Texas or the Texas Legislature, but in compliance with the U.S. Constitution and Supreme Court precedent,” he said in his order. “Without a rational relation to a legitimate governmental purpose, state-imposed inequality can find no refuge in our U.S. Constitution.”

But Garcia’s ruling, while a major victory for groups seeking to make marriage legal for gay and lesbian couples nationwide, will not win them Texas marriage licenses anytime soon.

Although Garcia issued a preliminary injunction against the state’s enforcing its 2003 law and 2005 constitutional amendment that limit marriage to opposite-sex couples, he stayed it from taking effect until his ruling can be reviewed on appeal.

Actually Bob, the only haters are the ones who passed that bill and their constituents who support it.
