Re: 2nd Term, Part VI: Burnin' down the House

Ok, I don't care what side of the aisle you (general term) are on, that's funny right there

It's like the old story about the guy visiting the annual comedians convention. To simplify matters, they'd given every joke known to man a number. The visitor asks if he could tell a joke and his friend says yes. The guy hollers out "24". Crickets. The pro tells his buddy: "You told it wrong."

Re: 2nd Term, Part VI: Burnin' down the House

Decidedly Foxesque headline on CNN today:

How Obama changed his Obamacare promise (with a fairly negative picture of him)

I don't have a problem with stories that are negative regarding the prez. But this is a negative story on the president as the major headline...and its an opinion piece to get to the negative story as the major headline.

CNN's business plan is to be more like Fox. The result? Record low ratings this month! I think its time to shut the whole operation down. :D

Re: 2nd Term, Part VI: Burnin' down the House

This is you knuckledraggers' new champion, Senator Rand Paul? How can you expect a man to face down Al Quada if he goes to pieces when caught plagerizing his speeches? :D

Paul Says He'll Give Footnotes for Speeches
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), "drawn and clearly shaken" by plagiarism charges, "offered a mix of contrition and defiance," the New York Times reports.

Said Paul: "What we are going to do from here forward, if it will make people leave me the hell alone, is we're going to do them like college papers. We're going to try to put out footnotes. We're going to have them available. If people want to request the footnoted version, we're going to have it available."

Paul also "attributed some of the sloppiness to the hectic life of a senator in high demand."

But if CNN is trying to look like Fox News, shouldn't their ratings go up??

No, because why go to a knockoff when you can get the real thing for the same price? CNN doesn't realize that conservatives will never watch it, liberals don't trust it, and middle of the road voters don't care enough to tune in. They're trying to bring in brainless analysts to pander to the right in an effort to increase viewership but there's no reason for those people to ditch Fox. In fact, far from what Megan Kelly did to Karl Rove on national TV last year, CNN would have let him go on for two hours and uncalled the election until they interviewed each and every Ohio voter, all out of fear for being called "biased".

What were Biden's excuses?

Of course, neither Paul nor Biden can match credentials with that libtard icon Ward Churchill, who was is a plagiarist and a liar.

First, Opie sez:

But then he comes up with...

Ooookaaayyyyyy....

So much easier than actually thinking, isn't it? Do you deny that Carter's writings and statements have convinced many Americans of his anti-Semitism? Alan Dershowitz among them. The logical fallacy you libtards have expressed here is that Carter's qualities as a human being, his religious beliefs, his charity work, et al mean he can't be an anti-Semite. It's utter nonsense, of course. But then, nonsense is the speciality du maison, non?

You would have saved us all the effort is you'd just said: "8."

What exactly did Carter say to make you think he is an anti-Semite?

Only if you label all your posts a "#2" :D

Don't expect an answer that makes any sense out of the ol' boy. The last logical thought in Opie's head died of loneliness about 30 years ago.

Carter has spent decades suggesting that Israel is the problem, not the "Palestinians." He has written books and articles and made speeches. He has been on the take from Saudi Arabia, among others. You may be planning to argue that opposing Israel doesn't necessarily mean he's anti-Semitic. And you'd be right. Over the years I have occasionally disagreed with Israel (the attack on the Liberty and the Jonathan Pollard affair come too mind). However, I have concluded that his positions collectively derive not merely from disagreement with Israel, but animus. He's certainly not a Cynthia McKinney type anti-Semite. But I believe he is hostile to the Jewish state to an extent that cannot be explained by anything other than anti-Semitism. He's convinced Alan Dershowitz and the ADL, among countless others.

I don't think Carter is an anti-Semite. He, and others, see the trees but lose site of the forest. Israel is certainly to be criticized for some things they do, but that doesn't change the greater picture of the situation, something Carter and others at time seem to forget.

Opie's stupidity aside regarding Jimmy Carter, how 'bout those elections last night?

Thanks for the response. Carter's conflicts with the Jewish community are well know, but I have never made an effort to figure out exactly what his beef is. I thought it arose primarily out of his opinion that Isreal should not continue to establish settlements in the West Bank, but that's probably a gross oversimplification.

But you are not allowed to rely on Alan Dershowitz' opinion as support. He is a scumbag bottom feeder, so he is not to be trusted.

What's the greater picture? That Israel and the Middle East have been the bane of civilization since WWII?

Re: 2nd Term, Part VI: Burnin' down the House

Its all political. A lot of this started with Tom DeLay, who thought he saw an opening with Jewish-American voters who lean Democratic and have since Harry Truman's day. Coupled with more conservative govts taking over in Israel (primarily Netanyahu) it seemed to dovetail together. As part of this strategy, you had to 1) agree with any position the Israeli leadership took on domestic security/foreign affairs, and 2) tag with the anti-Semitism charge any Dem politician who opposed such things as settlement construction or who proposed some sort of peace deal.

Oddly enough despite a massive outreach DeLay's vision never came true, as these voters still support the left in about the same #'s as they always did. Anti-Semitism is a pretty over the top charge to make over a political disagreement for reasonable people anyway.
