2nd Term Part IX - How Lame is my Duck

Re: 2nd Term Part IX - How Lame is my Duck

I knew it! Twitter is now part of the fascist conspiracy to control language.

Not really control language so much as to facilitate lowering the attention span of the populace. I'm sure you've heard of the short-hand phrase "tl;dr" (for the uninitiated: too long; didn't read). People seem to react to "buzzwords" and "catch phrases", while if you cannot get their attention within probably ten seconds in today's world, they'll simply just switch off and not pay attention. This span, if you go further towards the past, was much higher; I believe two minutes back in the 60's. It's because people are not understanding enough to allow time for a point to be made, especially if there are a number of them, or further explanations or context are necessary. It makes the brain dumber and more animal-like.

If you send her flowers and apologize Flaggy, she might take you back! Then you can stop posting conservative nonsense out here. ;)

I assume you are referring to FlagDUDETTE? I'm sorry to disappoint you, but we are still very happily together. I also find it very rude of you to bring her into the conversation in such a way. If you have a beef with me, you go after me, and only me. That woman has done nothing to you, so you leave her out of it.

Orwell said it better.

He wasn't referring to her. He was doubling down on a joke that you were dumped and therefore resorting to posting conspiracy theories. :p

This isn't anything new. When it came to writing newspaper stories, you put the big names and deeds right up front in the first graph to get the reader's attention. If you wait and reveal information in the third graph, most of your audience has already stopped reading.

I am well aware of said "joke". That being said, bringing her into a conversation in such a way crosses the line. I have no problem with people going after me, but when they start bringing her into the equation, we have a problem.

Watch out! Unofan has a thing for making fun of/poking at significant others.

Nope. Still hasn't happened anywhere other than your head. Unless it has since been purged in the last cleanup of the board, you can still read the thread where you put me on "ignore." I never once mentioned your wife, and your claiming I did is pure fiction and borderline obsession.

Three minutes. Impressive, in a creepy sort of way.

The commentary starts at post #899 and goes through #936. Tell me where I even mentioned your wife, let alone insulted her,, and I will immediately apologize.

Making a joke that you had been dumped is not "bringing her into the equation." Either lighten up, or quit with the feigned outrage.

Wow, what's truly hilarious about this "you disrespected my wife" obsession that Bob has with you is that you weren't even the one that made the "disrespectful" post. Somehow, it's not even surprising.

Are you slow or something? Getting dumped involves a relationship. Last I checked, I am happily with a human female. It most certainly involves her.

Coming from you, I can only laugh.

Sure, the joke involved the concept of a relationship and the implicit reference to an anonymous someone on the the other end of that. If that's all it takes for you to throw down the outrage card, well, good luck...

You really expect some of these folks to grasp such things? They scream at anyone who they disagree with and don't respect boundaries that reasonable people would.

Maybe there's room for Flaggy on your cross, Bob. ;) Or do you have a spare in the garage that he can borrow. :D
