Re: 2nd Term Part IX - How Lame is my Duck

If I walk off a 60 ft. cliff and some person saves my life by reaching out from a ledge part way down and slowing my fall enough so I don't die when I hit bottom, do I blame that person for my broken arm?

Yes. Where have you been the past 30 years?

Are you going to get paid? The answer to that is the answer to your question.

Re: 2nd Term Part IX - How Lame is my Duck

I wonder if Capital One would have a problem if I told them I had hit my "debt ceiling" and refused to pay....

Re: 2nd Term Part IX - How Lame is my Duck

Just eliminate the debt ceiling already. It's ridiculous to say "I ran up expenses and now I'm not paying." Even a marginally intelligent spending hawk should understand you have to attack spending at spending, not at invoicing. You have to cut up the credit card, not refuse to pay the balance.
Its known as bankruptcy for the rest of the country.

Re: 2nd Term Part IX - How Lame is my Duck

Uhhh, no. The US has plenty of credit and always pays its bills. That's not bankruptcy.
But it is for you, me, a city, a corporation, the Mom&Pop snack shop. It does not (yet) apply to the Federal Government.

No. If I have enough credit and I continue to pay my bills I'm fine. Will it catch up with me faster than the Feds? Sure. Just like it'll catch me faster than any NFL owner, etc. etc. etc.

No it isn't. That's like saying because I have a mortgage and student loans and a car payment, I'm bankrupt even though I could easily be making my payments because I chose not to pay them.
