Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooosh.

You're the one that's trying to dictate how a bank should run; I'm just trying to help you out with what needs to be done, since you admittedly don't know how to run something you're so desperate to run.

Re: 2nd Term Part 5: Big Brotha

Well, how does a bank get money to loan out? And what is the incentive given to hold that money?

Investors. OK, I'll bite.

I'm incorporating the First United Governmental Bank of Pricelessness (FUGOP). I expect all of you "money where your mouth" is fanatics to pony up and invest. I will guarantee you'll double your money within the first 5 years. Paypal the money to ticapnews(@)gmail.com and I'll set you up as an investor.

All hat, no cattle.
In my experience these haters are the ones who have NEVER run their own business and would fail miserably if they tried. Still, doesn't keep them from *****ing about all the "fat cats" on "easy street" who are actually out there risking everything to set themselves up in business.
Trust me, starting any business from scratch is not "no sweat." Or do you want to prove me wrong?

To admit that anybody is more successful due to hard work, intelligence, risk taking, judgment etc. would be to admit they don't have the same level of capability in those factors...much easier to explain other's success as all due to luck and cheating.

Remember, it ain't fair unless it is equal.

So, in your fantasyland Wall Street didn't run the economy into the ground circa 2008? Cause it sure isn't reality.

Fair has nothing to do with equal and no one hear is saying that it does.

So a guy born in Kenya ;) of mixed race and an absentee father comes to America and becomes President...and its all because of ACORN and IRS investigations of knuckledragger organizations....vs a simpleton who is born into a family of wealth and politican prominence who follows his President father into office.

Funny pirate, I don't ever recall you giving Obama credit for all his hard work and superior intelligence! I will now step back while your head explodes. :D

In order for things to sell off like they did, someone has to sell and someone has to buy. I'm sure there are a few people in the Caribbean that would be able to tell you that. ;)

Unless marcus goldman, sam sachs, bill fargo, henry wells, etc have returned from the grave, I don't think there are many bankers or financiers who built their businesses from scratch, either.

First of all, you are right...i don't think I've ever credited a politician for hard work or superior intelligence. I'm not sure when it stopped being about hard work and intelligence, maybe 1920?

I'll never agree with everything any president has done or will do. You on the other hand agree 100% when they are blue and disagree 100% when they are red. I'm actually allowed to think and have opinions that aren't consistent with one political platform.

Second, don't equate political success with business success. Two different skill sets and two different measurement methods.

Third, I have always argued there is movement between classes and have always espoused the belief that people can and do improve their station in life. Maybe not enough movement but I won't say that is 100% the fault of the person nor the system. I have been at direct odds with you and your peeps on that very subject. When was the last time you read a book about a successful person that didn't talk about a childhood of hard work, strong principles and some hard lessons?

Lastly, you, you... you are good at changing the subject. You deserve credit and recognition for the hard work and effort you put in to changing every discussion to party politics.

Your first sentence has nothing to do with what I posted. Do you want to attribute my comment to the sinking of the Titanic, wildfires in the west and Justin Bieber too? Try to keep in in the fairway.

Oh, yes it does. It most certainly does.

Wow, I've got the whole "I got your back" crew coming after me at once.

Now do you guys just sense that one of your pod is struggling or do they send you a private message to come help out?

As for the humor, nothing funny about people who blindly follow either party.

Most people I know do not agree with a politician of any stripe 100% of the time. They do agree with the politician or a political viewpoint most of the time and are willing to look beyond the disagreements to advance an agenda. This is called "compromise" and it's something this country was founded upon and we used to be really good at it. However somewhere along the way the leaders of both parties became more interested in purifying their ranks and almost everyone who was moderate was primaried out of existence (or those in office shifted allegiances enough to not get primaried).

As for your insinuation that we're pod people or have some sort of "group think" remember to repeat those criticisms any time more than 1 conservative comes to the defense of another poster. If you miss it, I can help point them out to you.

Usually they make some sort of cattle call, as I've had it happen to me on Facebook a number of times.

Re: 2nd Term Part 5: Big Brotha

Speaking of college students...

RALEIGH, N.C. — A bill filed in the state Senate Tuesday would carry a tax penalty for parents whose children register to vote at their college address.

Senate Bill 667, known as "Equalize Voter Rights," would remove the tax exemption for dependents who register to vote at any address other than their parents' home.

"If the voter is a dependent of the voter's parent or legal guardian, is 18 years of age or older and the voter has registered at an address other than that of the parent or legal guardian, the parent or legal guardian will not be allowed to claim the voter as a dependent for state income tax purposes," the bill says.

The measure would affect only state income tax, so it wouldn't have much effect on out-of-state students. But it could effectively cut student voting in counties like Watauga and Orange, where college voters have been a key part of the Democratic Party's dominance.

The bill would also require voters to have their vehicles registered at the same address as their voter registration. That also could cut down on college student registration, since many students maintain their vehicle registration in their home counties.

Sponsor Bill Cook, R-Beaufort, didn't immediately respond to inquiries about the intent of the legislation.

House Minority Leader Larry Hall said the bill "would raise taxes on middle-class families who are trying to put their children through college.”

I refuse to believe the Republican leadership has become so desperate to limit voting for partisan gain that they would be willing to support tax increases to achieve that goal," said Hall, D-Durham. "It is the definition of arrogance to penalize parents with new taxes just because their children want to exercise their right to vote in the community they live in.”

I believe it.
