It only applies to protecting oneself from criminal prosecution.

Sure, but people often raise the 5th in civil proceedings for fear of ongoing or possible criminal prosecution

9 more injured in Oklahoma and Arkansas by Obama's weather weapon. What will quench his unspeakable bloodlust?
I know you're kidding, but this was actually one of the Democrat Party's talking points they issued after all those kids got killed last time: God sent the tornado to Oklahoma because he hates conservative people and too many conservatives live there, he "wanted to kill them off." yeesh.

Re: 2nd Term Part 4: Donkeys, Elephants, and Porcupines

So why did you ask the question, smarty?
Fair question, if it's not rhetorical. I did not ask it to trap anybody. I just try not to assume there is not an answer to a question that has not occurred to me. You made the original comment, and you ordinarily operate from a good fund of knowledge. I'm not a criminal lawyer, and there might have been something peculiar to Lois Lerner's situation that I did not know about.

Whether that makes any sense to you I do not know. Or care, really, but I was not trying to trap anyone.

Fair enough. Personally I don't care if that slag ever sees the inside of a court room or a cell. Political accountability, not convictions, is the goal here, IMO.

Actually, it was a joke sent out by Lizz Winstead on twitter, not Democratic Party talking points.

I think you confused oklahoma with new england, tornado with hurricane, and democratic party with jerry falwell and the religious right. Other than that, your statement may have been accurate

So long as she potentially faces criminal prosecution, she can still take the 5th in a civil trial. That's why civil actions usually take place following any criminal ones.

thank you! You accidentally proved my point by doubling down with NO recognition of the absurdity of it. The hypocrisy boggles my mind.
(although to be honest, as Priceless pointed out that was sort of an actual thing from some woman).

...wait, that made sense before inside my head... maybe I should stop saying thngs., I'm making even less sense than usual.

Speaking of accuracy...how did Jerry Falwell have anything to say about Hurricane Sandy? Did he speak through a medium or did you see it on your Ouija Board?

Liberty University is STILL Falwell. Even from the beyond. It's sort of like Steve Jobs' plan for Apple that he wrote before kicking the bucket.

Pardon me for not keeping up on who the latest televangelist is. You still understood my point.

Subscribed because porcupines is obviously a reference to all the pr*ks in politics.

One of the most sublime moments in recent American history was when Falwell went down the water slide at Godland. . .in a suit!
