Re: 2nd Term - Part 3 - Echo Chambers, Chorales, and Wingnuts, Oh My!

See Flaggy, I spotted a BS source and didn't even bother. Were there a bill to actually legalize pedophilia (which if classified as joecct insinuated that's what you'd be doing) don't you think more mainstream political sites would cover it? So, if something's on Brietbert or Drudge for example, chances are really strong its not true so there's no use in even clicking on the link.

You however in the hopes that the story was true chose to launch a personal attack against myself, as par for the course. Turns out your attack was misguided, as usual, as Priceless destroyed the story and joe hasn't come around to defend it.

Yet, you think that what I typed was specific to this story? You really are short-sighted. This isn't the first time I've typed this. You did not dismiss the idea based upon the content, but rather the name of the firm providing it. Dr. King's speech applies to more than just skin colour; it applies to every other identifier in the world. Now, had you decided to pull out certain quotations from the article and given your refutation, I don't think anyone would have a problem with you doing that. There may be some disagreement with your basis, but I'm sure we would cross that bridge when we get there. I cannot divulge my position in that debate at this time because it does not exist.

Look Flaggy, its tough to keep all of your personal attacks straight! FWIW you might want to tone down the anger a little bit...

Look Grover, its [sic] easy to keep all of your mouth foamings straight! FWIW you might want to tune up the brain a little bit...

A lot of Denver cops weren't happy His Imperialness used the DPD Academy and officers as props for his latest anti-gun dog and pony show.

Speaking of Denver, if you want to be a gun-control advocate, it might help to know WtheF you're talking about.

Democratic Rep. Diana DeGette is being ridiculed by gun-rights advocates after the ardent supporter of a high-capacity magazine ban appeared to flub the facts on what a magazine actually is.

Her widely noticed comments were made at a Denver Post forum earlier this week on the gun debate.

Questioned on what's to be done with the millions of high-capacity magazines already in circulation, DeGette asserted that they'd be discarded once they're used.

"I will tell you these are ammunition -- bullets -- so the people who have those now they are going to shoot them, and so if you ban -- if you ban them in the future, the number of these high capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time because the bullets will have been shot and there won't be any more available," she said.

I don't think there's any high ground to claim in this battle, Mr. Frank. They're all immoral scum. I think it's a prerequisite for a life in politics.

Its sad really. I believe politicians start out trying to make the world a better place. They quickly find that they can't unless they compromise on other principles which ultimately sell out their constituancy. In the end, I feel that they get to crave power and due to that feel entitled to dictate to society 'what is right'. Frankly society is pretty good at determining what is good for itself and ultimately politicians often become the problem rather than the solution.

The cycle just continues.

Doesn't change any of the facts about magazines. Does create irrelevant talking points for the right to be repeated at nauseam.

It might keep magazines from well-known and readily available production, but it won't stop them. You can still download a CAD drawing for a 30-round magazine and use a 3-D printer. There are videos that have actually tested their usability, and they do work. It's no different from the effectiveness of the banning of marijuana, or prohibition in the 20's.

Re: 2nd Term - Part 3 - Echo Chambers, Chorales, and Wingnuts, Oh My!

Sounds good, but one has to wonder if joecct and flaggy will man up and admit their error.

Which is sad in a way. While Flaggy is generally thought of as a lost cause ;) getting people like joecct hooked into this idiocy is sad to see. Shows the deep problems conservatism has. They'll embrace any BS and turn themselves into laughingstocks just in the fleeting hope of scoring one for their side. That's fine if the beef is legit, but really, how many absurd stories have we heard already and we're only half way through Obama's Presidency?

No need to defend it or apologize for it, just move on to the next Outrage of the Day.

another shocking and horrifying reminder of the life-threatening nature of the shared sacrifice that is upon us because of budget cuts: No more Air Force flyovers at sporting events. The horror!
Ironically though, the horrified "victims" in all this are the same ones who said jets use too much oil and will cause global warming. So which is it? :D

Although prohibition is on a different scale, I agree. I'm not sure if its not a reason to enact a law tho.

When a democrat is in power, the former. When a republican is in power, the latter. It's just attention whoring.

Re: 2nd Term - Part 3 - Echo Chambers, Chorales, and Wingnuts, Oh My!

Somebody had a great point about gun control laws and the oft repeated mantra that they do nothing to stop crime. If that's so, why do we keep passing anti-terrorism laws, and the same anti-gun control crowd is generally the biggest proponent? I mean, the Patriot Act didn't stop terrorism...

Re: 2nd Term - Part 3 - Echo Chambers, Chorales, and Wingnuts, Oh My!

Funny stuff going on in Tennessee, where the state's GOP leadership was all hot to trot on school vouchers....Until they realized that Muslim religious schools can take part in the program too. DOH! I'm sure we'll be seeing a restriction added for Christian schools only, followed by the state wasting millions defending a doomed law that will get overturned as a blatant violation of the Constitution.

Parochial schools still exist? Many in the area where I grew up have closed...
