I disagree. I think I read what was said accurately. The comments were MUCH more with regard to "a home team winning", not "this year's home team winning".
Tell me which posts you think refer specifically to Penn State winning, between the start of the thread, and you "I'm puzzled how fans here think Penn State could win it all?" comment.

Pretty sure it was Windchill who posted about the "home team" making it to the final four and then Tim went off puking up if PSU would win it at home.
I don't think anyone posted about predicting that they would win it. Side out robertearle.

Thanks for that. In the back of my mind, I remembered an ECAC team defeating another ECAC team to get there. I knew that "Q" had a good showing, and Yale had a season where the stars aligned, but I have no real memory of them playing an FF game. I guess that was the year where UMD beat UM on the road on its path to a final meeting with tOSU.
As for PSU this season, everybody expects UW to win. Just like I expected Nebraska to win in WVB and NDSU to win in the FCS, but neither of those teams made the semifinals.

It would have been either Princeton or Northeastern in 2020 had it not been for Covid. I was looking forward to a real barn burner at Matthews.

More will be known about penny ante state after the break when they have games against Cornell and the yuckeyes. It is not their fault that they are in the conference that isn't as strong as the WCHA but then again, no other conference is. And with that, they deserve credit for taking care of business and winning most all of their games, that much can be said.
Tessa Janecke is every bit as good as anyone playing in the WCHA this season. Her role on Team USA is proof of that. Playing on Wisconsin, her numbers would be O'Brienesque.
Whether that makes her a "generational" player is semantics. But she's the real deal.
Love the uneducated enthusiasm.. Janecke is NOT the offensive player as O’Brien or several of the current Badgers.
She’s very good but would need to be setting the world on fire in that bad conference to be “Generational”
Harvey is shattering records as did O’Brien while playing in the best conference against the best players most night of the season. Those are two “Generational” players in every sense of the term.
What I've been told is that she chose PSU because PSU offered a full scholarship, while the usual suspects at the top of WCH were offering partials.
One funny Tessa story: She smashed all of the PSU women's hockey weight room records her first week on campus.
Janecke will be in Team USA's top six at the Olympics, and O'Brien won't make the team.
Yes she will…. She plays hard and fits the role the coach has for her.
Is she better and more deserving … NO.
So many hidden factors go in to selecting any team… the pieces need to fit and fit under coaches thoughts.
Top 6 is a line chart measurement.
There will be major contributions from players 6-12 on the line chart.
Again, very good player. Generational no.
LOL so Team USA is going to leave a "better and more deserving" player home, and play a worse and less deserving player on the top line.

I had never seen the generational comment before. Buckyb drew some attention to it, nbd.
But Kampersal goes on to speak on Tessa’s loyalty to Penn State and makes it pretty clear that that is a thing he respects. that was the meaningful quote in the interview.
When I called a Tessa a real one, that’s what I was speaking on, although I am certainly a fan a of her hockey too.
Buckyb you are right, rosters get put together with lots of consideration and factors beyond the control of any given player. It’s hard for a player to make herself “undeniable.” There are very few who based purely on their hockey alone are not replaceable on a team. Deserving players who could have helped their country earn a gold medal will get cut. There is no way around it.
All they can do is what Annie Pankowski did.
