2026 Elections: To the Midterms and Beyond!

My math ain’t mathing. 47 + 3 = 50, not 51. So yeah, Democrats will need 2 of those 3. Since elections are so nationalized now, I don’t think Michigan will go for Rogers while TX is flipping blue, but stranger things have happened. With my ability to math again, I’d say realistically it could be 50-50, 51-49 D. I don’t think Kansas and Iowa will flip…generic 8.2D on the ballot just doesn’t seem like enough.
I agree, I’m not predicting MI or NH will flip, but just mentioning the possibility.

If it's 50/50, Stroke Boy gets a ton of power. He's not stupid enough to switch parties, but he'll do Manchin's shtick with the volume knob turned up to 11 and have a field day doing it.

Mike Rogers' wife

This has always balled me up:

How to form the possessive of a proper noun ending in "s" depends on the style guide you follow:
  • The Chicago Manual of Style & APA Style:Add an apostrophe and an "s" ('s).
    • Examples: James's book, Kansas's laws, Charles's dog.
  • AP Stylebook (used in journalism):Add only an apostrophe (').
    • Examples: James' book, Kansas' laws, Charles' dog.
  • Classical and Biblical Names:Most style guides (including Chicago and AP) use only an apostrophe for ancient or classical names that have many syllables ending in "s".
    • Examples: Jesus' teachings, Moses' tablets, Socrates' philosophy.

I would argue 51/49D would give Fetterman more power since voting with Republicans then provides them the 50/50 tie and the JD Vance tiebreaker.

Who's going to punish them for blatently breaking the law?

That's what this grand experiment has been since that anthropomorphic bag of milk coated in Cheeto dust walzed down that golden escalator a decade ago: "Yeah, I did it. Who's gonna fucking stop me."

No comment. If martial law is declared, everyone knows how it will end - ugly.
I posed the following related question to Dr. Mrs:

Let's say all the polling shows Dems up by 8 points across the board in all these Senate races. On Election Day, exit polling shows exactly the same. The official results are announced, and in every blue Governor state same same, 8 points. But in every red Governor state the Republican is announced as the winner.

What would we do?

In Alaska, there was a debate last night in the Senate race (this was actually the third debate this week as there was a Governor and House candidates debate the previous two nights).

You might’ve seen the clip of Dan Sullivan complaining that Mary Peltola was provided the questions beforehand, which the moderator denied, and Peltola responding that she “came prepared”.

What you haven’t seen is Sullivan and the right wing sphere doubling down on Peltola “cheating” and having “hand written teleprompters”.

Today an incumbent MN state senator talked about how people used to have measles parties because it’s a joke. I’ll let you figure out what party endorses him.
Just let them stop vaccinating for it. There were 2M measles-related deaths per year worldwide before mass vaccine programs.

Let the anti-science crowd leave their kids' lives to chance.
