None of us have the wealth to throw the cash around to affect change we have two choices: Either vote and fight in the legislative process and courthouses or start shooting and fight with blood.

I figured since you’re so convinced that voting will do nothing you’d be up for a fight. Guess you’re just a little doomer bitch posting on a message board.

From what I’ve read, it’s not symbolic at all. Those words means all the difference. Plenty of conditions that didn’t meet the original narrow exceptions after 24 weeks that meet them now. Plenty of women who had to leave MA to get an abortion can now stay in MA to get one. That means it’s not symbolic. Another thing this law apparently does allow abortions to occur in clinics, rather than always in hospitals, which saves time and money for everyone, from the patient to the insurance companies. That should make any Republican happy.

What would be a condition that would meet the “discretion of the physician” that is also not a life, physical or mental health situation)? From my quick look up it appears the prior law also had exceptions for fetal health conditions as well, not just the mothers.

The clinic/hospital change seems like a good one.

I'm increasingly thinking that my free time this fall would be best spent sucking up my reservations and volunteering for the El-Sayed campaign instead of just donating money. Not because I have some sort of White Savior Complex, but because as a nearly middle-aged white male with a fair degree of privilege, I feel like it would simply be the right thing to do to actually put my mouth where my money has already been going and to try and burst peoples' bubbles and perceptions (probably won't but hey, I can say I tried).

Besides, getting a Glock brandished at me on some Waterford nutbar's front porch might make me feel more alive! :LOL:

There are no solutions. We told everyone what would happen for years and no one listened. If you think people are listening now, that's just delusional. If I can vote, I will vote, and that's all I can do. If I can volunteer, I'll volunteer and that's all I can do.

But if the Federal Government shuts down the polls, OR declares martial law there is not one fucking thing I can do about it. And the idea(s) have been floated by this administration.

Part of me can't wait until it's just me and I can get the fuck out of this country. But then I remember that something absolutely horrible has to happen first and I don't want that. I'll probably die here.

After the 2024 election I said on Bluesky: As they are hauled away to the gas chambers the centrists will think "If only we were a little more like Republicans."
Someone replied: And as they are hauled to gas chambers the leftists will say, "If only we had voted blue no matter who."
I responded that they were wrong. Leftists will be executed on the streets long before any of us are taken to gas chambers.

Well, the one example I read was a mother whose child suffered a stroke in utero. That didn’t meet requirements for an abortion, so she traveled to Maryland to get the abortion she needed. No doubt there’s more. The fact women have to leave MA means there’s obviously plenty of abortions that didn’t meet MA’s previous criteria…and MA is one of the “good ones.”

But if you want an example of resistance than can facilitate change but doesn't involve firearms: A general strike. This country shuts down for a few days and the wheels of capitalism stop turning and things in DC will change right quick.

It'll never happen though.

Outside of a few people on here, a lot of us were terrified, especially once Trump won re-election, of what was going to happen. We watched our institutions crumble his first term. My personal favorite is WaPo’s “Democracy dies in darkness” as they help it die now lol.
