2026 Elections: To the Midterms and Beyond!

Yes I knew tons of these guys at work.

They are amazing in certain contexts and poison in almost all others.

They really are red shirts. Proudly and self-avowedly. "No offense." / "None taken." They are the closest we have to ISIS suicide bombers. Their enormous egotism is their entire ego is sublimated to the mission. It's a useful cult.
It’s honestly sad. Everything is always related to “when I was in the Marine Corps…” Even the ones who aren’t Dump humpers, there’s always a moment of “when I was in the Corps…”.

In my experience anyone who was in the Marine Corp basically makes it their entire personality. "There's no such thing as a 'former' Marine" is probably one of the most unhealthy things.
This is accurate. Korea fucked up my grandpa pretty good. Took him years of private counseling to get past it and even then he was still up at 5am in retirement, crash dieting, and hitting the gym. He also never spoke about his service.

El Sayed sent out a mailer today claiming AIPAC and Dump donors have given $40m to Stevens' campaign.

Not sure how accurate that figure is, but she doesn't exactly hide her unwavering support for Israel.

And if I vote D i also own the DSA platform?

Maybe that is the problem with the country right now - our choices are project 2025 or DSA - and nothing in between.
Yeah, the DSA is in charge of everything. That's why we haven't been able to raise the minimum wage in 20 years.

Do you people even hear yourselves?

This is just AIPAC and affiliated groups. Don't have a source for donations to the child rapist war criminal.

If they run on it yes. The difference here is I'll own it if they run on it.

Project 2025 was the motivation of the 8 intelligent people capable of long term thinking remaining in the GOP, standing behind their thousands of short term thinking grifters like Susie.

Project 2025 isn't theoretical now, it's policy. It's a roadmap to Orban's "illiberal democracy" and servitude underneath those uber wealthy elites all you homespun values jackoffs are supposed to revile.

The DSA platform is a political hallucination for one thing, nobody I know of has formally declared they are running under it for another, and it is a pre-negotiation wish list, not active, murderous policy like Project 2025 for a third. Show me anything there 1/1000th as dangerous as what the fasc do every day.

You can stop running from the phantom Leftist Menace to freedom the GOP has been invoking since Goldwater. The actual menace is here, today, and in power. It turned out to be rightwing psychopaths enabled by cheap, ugly, obvious con men. You wanna save freedom? Then fight the real enemy and stop trying to revive the greatest hits of the 80s and 50s to distract everyone.

I may have found it - talking about preserving the filibuster? It sounded pretty reasonable to me.

Or was there another interview you are talking about?
It was before that when Joe Kernen was giving such high praise at Fetterman being a moderate, and they both discussed how the 'wackos on the left have taken over,' and referred to the DSA, utilizing those same talking point.

From Politics Girl. Frequent pundit on CNN.

Maybe don’t call them Democratic socialists. Maybe we are FDR Democrats or New Deal Democrats. The idea is we need a party that looks out for the people again.
That's what I would have named it.

Those are not taking points - it’s what is listed on the DSA website:

That sounds a lot like what the far right told me back in the days when I considered myself more of a moderate republican.

LOL.

Could the DSA get to where the Tea Party/MAGA got? Sure. Not in your or your children's or your children's children's lifetime. The GOP took over in 1980. it took till 2026 to get to this point. They would have failed if they hadn't had many Democrats along the way helping them out.

People are asking me to "fight". For what? All you have to do is watch CNN for 10 minutes at 10PM Central to know all is lost.

One of the benefits of not being a moderator anymore is that I don't feel guilty putting people on ignore. (y)
Yeah, I figured out a few days ago that he's playing the "JAQ off like a Fark Independent" game and stopped responding.

He'd agree with you if you'd just address the questions and concerns he has about X and Y.

Did you see Manchin on the circuit this week? He's starting up an independent initiative for candidates and hopefully power.

Let's see now.

How moderate was Manchin, or Synema, or Collins and what did they accomplish? Both caved to the right in such extremes as to destroy the country. I keep remembering that the EPA was created under Nixon. It all ended in 1980.

I don’t see why that’s funny? Indeed there was a time that I considered myself more of a moderate Republican… The party definitely left me and I have subsequently voted mostly for Democrats… Now I fear the same thing is happening but on this side.

I get that for those on the far left or far right it is hard for people to understand more moderate or nuanced positions. But I suppose when MAGA friends of mine think I’m on the Looney left and at the same time further left friends of mine think I’m cause I Maga maybe I’m in the right spot.

I also refuse to believe all is lost but if the reaction to debate or discussion is to just put people on ignore, perhaps you are correct.
