2026 Elections: To the Midterms and Beyond!

VBNMW means when a Liberal beats a Leftist we must all support the Liberal and when a Leftist beats a Liberal we must all go on the Sunday talk shows and sabotage the Leftist.

Saundra Pelletier is the only candidate opposing Jackson who hasn't dropped out and apparently is going to go right until the convention. It seems her angle is promoting her business, which is a birth control company. Healthcare is her chief (only?) platform position, other than "I have ovaries so only I can challenge Susan Collins. Did you know that she also has ovaries? Vote for me." She claims that over 49,000 people called in to her conference call last night, but in reality she robodialed everyone (both my mother and I received phone calls) so my guess is hardly anyone "called" to hear her speak. I hung up after about 30 seconds and advised mom to disregard the call when it came in on her phone.

Jackson has 95% of the delegates, the DSC members will support him and I anticipate his vote will be nearly unanimous. Barring some kind of workshop or campaign event, the poor people that are driving from Aroostook (3 hours) and York (2.5) Counties won't even be in Bangor long enough to eat lunch.

Seems like a waste. Democrats, the party of environmental responsibility.

And you know they will not be carpooling.

Moderates are circling the wagons for Stevens in Michigan.

Both Peters and Whitmer said a couple months ago they wouldn’t endorse anyone in the primary. Instead, Peters did last week for Stevens and Whitmer did just now.

El Sayed must be closer than they want, or they really just meant they wouldn’t endorse one centrist over the other when McMorrow was still in it.

I'm quite sure it's PQNLD. Still frustrating when current polling consistently shows Stevens loses to Rogers.

Whitmer I get, I'm sure she felt compelled to help another woman and Abdul did run against her from the left in the 2018 primary.

Peters had no compelling reason to do it, but I'm guessing the party asked him to and he's always been a yes-man for the brass.

Dump's coming to Michigan next week to campaign with James in Oakland County, but they're playing it real safe with the event all the way out in Milford. 😆

Might as well take it all the way out to Howell/Livingston County.

Troy's acceptance speech.

No tie of course. Shirtsleeves rolled up.
Curious about his overall favorability in Maine? First impression is that he does not have the same charisma / is as inspiring of a speaker etc as Plattner did, but maybe the "backwoods Mainer" image will speak to enough Mainers to flip the seat? I know the one poll out showed him in a strong position - but wondering as more people hear him how it will play out.

It's not charisma. It's fighting fascism. You can be a cabbage and fight fascism. If the electorate is ready to hear it you win. If they are still mooning after white Christian nationalism, you're fucked no matter what.

He isn't running against Collins, he's running against the Republican agenda for us, which is one part Mussolini and three parts Capone. Obviously you don't see it but don't insult our intelligence: we do. These elections aren't for class president, they are against ICE rapes and beatings.

I"m sure that will win over the 31.4% of registered independent voters in Maine needed to win.

If 31.4% of "independent" voters are a-okay with what ICE did in Minneapolis and elsewhere, and can't see the grift and the corruption from the MAGAt right, then the country is already fucked. Put a fork in the grand American Experiment.

Anyone still questioning those obvious abuses and thinking they might be OK in any circumstance is a goner who isn't worth our time.

Nobody (or almost nobody) is OK with the incidents in Minneapolis etc - I think you are overestimating the rage / motivation this will give a big chunk to go out and vote. A "cabbage" is not going to be enough to beat Collins.
