2026 Elections: To the Midterms and Beyond!

So, AIPAC wants Susie? Is AIPAC just a Bibi arm? Don't most Jews in the United States vote Democrat? I'm sensitive about Israel, and I read my history but this is getting ridiculous. Could the World have a worse leadership combo for Israel and the United States then the two that are in power now?

I think it’s more a case of not wanting Platner. I don’t want to speak for them but my guess is they probably don’t want someone with a nazi tattoo in the senate.

Neither would I. He's a horrible candidate. But the alternative is a psychopath who only cares about gathering power and wealth for herself.

No. He has campaigned on "not another dime for Israel"

They don't give a shit about the Nazi tattoo. See: Pete Hegseth

Same. I would rather have a Rep who had sexually assaulted a woman but reliably votes for women's rights than a squeaky-clean Ned Flanders who votes against them. Depressing, but true.

He's a horrible candidate.

He's a flawed candidate but he's not horrible.
  • The sexting sucks but anytime they raise it just point out they are supporting a rapist.
  • The "Nazi tattoo" has always been a bunch of BS.
The reason this is even getting traction is the DNC doesn't think he's going to play ball continuing to screw everyone else to feather the bed of the donor class. And you of all people should know that. We finally have somebody Left who can also talk to normie morons. Don't shit on that. Get on the fucking train and let's get a true Left majority before I die, please.

I got a text from Emily's List today telling me NOT to give Platner any money, but to donate to their candidates instead.

Not getting the "VBNMW" vibes....

Too late, if you live in Maine do they want you to give to the Collins campaign ?
No, they aren't quite as bad as AIPAC as party affiliation still seems to matter (though one is left with the impression that they wouldn't shed tears if Collins won). They want you to send your money to a candidate in another state.

Not even subtle. Early money is like yeast. Their sole purpose is raising money for pro-choice candidates, which they’re not doing here. And no, national media, Susan Collins isn’t pro-choice, her little stunts when she knows the bills won’t pass notwithstanding.

Oh, but she has been assured that Kavanaugh won't overturn Roe

Well... that is kind of the point of a national organization. They're like the Sierra Club. 🏞️

Thank you.

A BILLIONAIRE WEALTH TAX: END THE ERA OF
BILLIONAIRE HOARDING

Trillions of dollars, wealth beyond the dreams of avarice, are held by a tiny number of
Americans. These fortunes are locked in their portfolios, which they borrow against, tax-free.
It is long past time for a reasonable direct tax on extreme wealth. We must pass such a tax in
America.

1. A WEALTH TAX ON THE ULTRA-RICH

Reasonable proposals call for a 5-6% tax on wealth over one billion dollars, which alone
could raise over $4.4 trillion.4 Income taxes alone cannot address the massive concentration
of wealth in the hands of a few: only a tax on wealth can do so.

Wealth taxes have been the third rail of politics, for obvious reasons, in a nation where
billionaires can buy elections at will. But it has gone too far. Americans will not allow
ourselves to sink into a permanent underclass in a world dominated by a handful of
oligarchs.

2. A NEW ERA OF AMERICAN ECONOMIC DIPLOMACY: TOWARDS A
GLOBAL BILLIONAIRE MINIMUM TAX

For decades, foreign policy has been dominated by trade agreements and endless wars
that exploit workers and send our young people to die. It’s time for a new era of American
economic diplomacy.

We cannot allow billionaires to defund the societies that made their fortunes possible simply
by shuffling money into an offshore account. This global concentration of wealth has given a
handful of people more power than entire nations, leaving workers everywhere to pick up the
tab for a lopsided global economy

Having no middle ground between 1 and 10 is an Edge Lord posture. What matters is Platner can win and then vote the way most of us want almost all of the time. There will be some local shit he's going to have to vote derpy on ("It's gud fer JERBS!!!") but that's democracy. 🤷‍♀️

Funny you mention the Sierra Club, which has seen its core membership fall by over 50% since it abandoned its core mission of environmentalism in favor of a broader progressive agenda.

The local chapter here in Iowa has gone so far afield that its positions often conflict with the national organisation's clean energy policies.

Didn't know about that. Not really surprised. Sierra Club started out as very Old Boy Network -- Teddy Roosevelt Republicans. The Koch Brothers' type of charitable work. When Sierra started actually trying to protect the environment broadly and not just keep Bohemian Grove unspoiled they didn't like that one bit.
