2026 Elections: To the Midterms and Beyond!

Well, he better win.

One wonders how the moderates fucked things up so bad but they sure did.
I was reflecting on this last night - and not sure what to make for a prediction. IN 2024 Rogers lost very narrowly.

On one hand I'm concerned that many of the swing voters/independents will view El-Sayed as too extreme and too far left, but on the other hand he may be able to win over many of those simply from a Populist / Charisma standpoint.

There is also going to be a lot of wind at the Democrats back in November which will help him as well.

Here's the thing: She had $60 million in AIPAC money in the primary and still lost. In the general she wouldn't have had that AIPAC money so would have been massacred by Rogers. Now AIPAC has to spend tens of millions on Rogers, which means not sending it somewhere else. At the very least AES forced AIPAC to expend resources in Michigan instead of other states (and guaranteed massive revenue for Michigan media)

I do not understand AIPAC and what their game is right now. Are they Bibi humpers? Is that it. They just care about all that sweet military money and War?

It should not be that hard to understand.... they are a pro-Israel lobbying group and believe Israel is fighting terrorists that want to eliminate Jews off the planet. You can disagree with Israel's response of course but AIPAC's motives are pretty obvious.

My party and its followers didn’t try to overthrow the government 5 years ago. My party isn’t providing cover for it. I’ll gladly accept the mantle of “moron” from people on the Right who still support Trump. If choosing between saving democracy and fascism comes down to someone saving democracy calling you a moron if you vote for fascism, well…moron is the best I can do for you.
Again - it is lazy and does nothing to help (and in fact probably hurts) your cause.
Alright, you’re a Michigan voter. AES is the progressive, far-left Democrat versus a “moderate” Republican Mike Rogers. Who are you voting for and why?
At this particular moment probably El-Sayed as while Trump is in office I believe it is important for Democrats to take the senate.

In other scenarios i may very well cross the aisle on this one. (For example, if candidates were a mirror image running for governor of Massachusetts or if Democrats already had a strong hold on the Senate)... keep in mind I don't know a ton about Mike Rogers so i say that with you telling me he is a moderate.

They are a colonialist, pro-Israel, and anti-Muslim hate group operating under the guise of a pro-Jewish lobbying organization. Their goal is Israeli dominance in the Middle East at any cost, even if that means endless war.

And Fetterman wants to have children with them. Why exactly? I really don't know. He must be bought and paid for.

You don't have to know anything about Mike Rogers. All you need to know about him is Donald Trump. I am super sorry it is that simple, but it is that fucking simple.
Its almost as if you didn't even read my post.

And if you don't understand that at this point, after ten years of him, well, moron is maybe the most generous thing that could be said about you.

As always, Ken Klippenstein is the master of understatement:

Chuck Schumer Eats Shit

Imagine if Donald Trump went all-in endorsing a candidate for the Senate, campaigned for them and helped raise eleven times as much money as their opponent — who then lost.

There would be wall-to-wall media coverage declaring the end of Trump’s influence and of the Republican Party as we know it. “Trump’s Bitter Defeat,” The New York Times would say; “The End of an Era ,” The Washington Post would echo.

This actually just happened in Michigan’s Senate primary — with one detail glaringly absent.

Basically the entire Democratic Party leadership supported Haley Stevens, who outspent El-Sayed eleven to one amid a relentless campaign of warnings about how bad news bears he would be for state, party, country — but lost. But the media’s response? ‘He didn’t win by that much,’ ‘Now comes the hard part, the general election,’ and so on.

Bullshit.
I legitimately laughed at this line
The party elders threw everything at El-Sayed but their dentures.

Former Rep. Mike Rogers is expected to announce soon that he's entering the Michigan Senate race next year, and already has tapped one of President Trump's 2024 campaign leaders as a senior adviser.

Why it matters: Rogers' hire of Chris LaCivita is a signal that Rogers is aggressively aligning himself with Trump's MAGA movement for 2026.
  • Trump hasn't yet endorsed Rogers, but he backed him in Michigan's 2024 GOP Senate primary. After winning the nomination, Rogers lost in the general election to Democrat Elissa Slotkin.

President Donald Trump is endorsing Republican Mike Rogers in Michigan's U.S. Senate race Wednesday while repeating false claims about election fraud in Wayne County in a post on Truth Social.

There aren't any "swing voters/independents." There are Nazis and the rest of us. A legitimate Left candidate advocating policies that will ram the Nazis' crap back down their throats will bring energy to voters who had given up because the government has been bought by the rich. We "won't replace you"? Just watch us. 100x funding for the cities where people actually live; cut rural electrification -- god will know his own. Enjoy your invisible hand, bitches.

On the other hand, the entire edifice protecting the Post-Reagan order would rather Nazis for a thousand year Reich than one term of an actual Leftist to end the plutocracy. That's the GOP and the corporate media and the DNC and the Epstein class and their billions. Plus all their Useful Idiots and their worry beads. Nothing personal.

That's a hell of a headwind.

This is a test of whether the will of voters can stand up to hatred and crime backed strategically by oligarchs, given what SCOTUS has done to destroy democracy in the last quarter century. It's critical a test of what the Founders built.

It will be a near run thing. You all better hope the voters prevail. Even the DNC better. Fuck, even the rich better. Because when all peaceful avenues of reform have been exhausted, people don't just lie down and die.
