2026 Elections: To the Midterms and Beyond!

If that’s true, isn’t that even scarier? A majority of the people who bothered to show up to vote didn’t vote for the lies (lower grocery and gas prices are accomplished through racism, rehashing electoral fraud, and making me a dictator on day 1), they showed up because they like the idea of…this we have now?
As Kep(?) once said, the people who claim "I'm a straight white Christian conservative, how else can I offend you today?" are upset that they had a 400-500 year head start, and committed a bigger choke job than 28-3.

Thirds. One third of us are humans. One third are animals. One third are asleep.

We need a human world.

The one-third that are asleep in your scenario are who I’m talking about, unless you’re implying the third who are asleep are the non-voters, thus why the 33% animals vs. 33% humans actively voting make every election close.

A bad look to whom? You? If so, ¿porqué? No entiendo.
I was thinking to the supporters of one of the other candidates who may now feel like their candidate never had a voice?
🤷‍♂️
Not from Maine here so I have no dog in the fight but I just thought it was interesting. I’m not sure any of them have a real chance so it may not matter anyway but who knows.

Shenna is a friend and I supported her and was on her slate of delegates. Nothing untoward happened. It wasn't fixed. It isn't that we didn't have a voice, it's just that Troy was better organized for the caucus and had more support.

Got it. I see ticap has answered that. As for the chance, how much money is Jackson going to be able to raise? Does it matter since Mainers already know him as well as they know weak-kneed Susie C?

Fundraising might be a challenge. During the gubernatorial primary he was the only major candidate who raised less than $1 million. Jackson isn't going to have billionaire support like Suzie. He isn't going to have PACs with bottomless pockets lined up (that $300 million ad buy is still set to go, with more if they need it). But Mainers do not respond to money like in other places. Angus King III raised $2 million for the gubernatorial primary and got 8% of the vote.

Where this will be won is away from the usual political playgrounds. For decades now Democrats have missed while Susie flies under the radar doing morning radio hits between Top 40 tunes and does friendly banter with the hosts about anything but politics. The air show, some charity fundraiser, just everyday shit that has every soccer mom driving her kid to school laughing and nodding in agreement. And when November comes they remember that nice lady on the radio and fill in the oval next to her name. If the Democrats don't do anything to counter that, she'll win again. I think Troy has the folksy charm to do just that, it's a matter of getting onto those broadcasts and having a chance to do the same friendly banter. We'll see if they let him on the air and give him a platform. I just hope Troy and his team appreciate the importance of countering that aspect of her campaign.

Yup.

It's even worse with men. We had a 6,000 year head start and all we had to be was less rapey and domestic violency and share power equally to make a paradise but, nope, we still couldn't handle it. Needed to hang on to that Madonna/whore dichotomy until the patience of millenia was finally exhausted and women said "You won't give it? Fuck you, bro. We're taking it."

Voting correlates strongly but not entirely.

There are humans, animals, and sleepers on the Left and the Right. The mix is dramatically different, but they're each represented.

"The only time I voted was that one time when Major League Baseball started the fans voting thing and I voted for Boog Powell for first base and he didn't get in and it just disappointed me. It stayed with me. It's futile."

That is my impression of what Planter was doing. I doubt it was his positions so much as Charisma and coming off as a "dude who gets it" that was driving his popularity. Will be interesting to see if Jackson can come off in the same way.
