2026 Coaching Changes

I think Syracuse was intending to compete when they hired Paul Flanagan, after making a run at Shannon Miller. Who know what budget the program has overall. However, back in the day, Maine was known for being very skimpy on program resources. It could be vastly different now, but I tend to doubt it. It has been able to attract some higher-end international players, so maybe there are more dollars available than in the Maria Lewis days.
 
Matt Kelly steps down at Providence. Nicole Norton named interim head coach. Because it's late in the offseason, I expect she'll have the job for the year.
 
There hasn't been anything formally released that I can find, but the coaching page has updated at Syracuse indicating that Brendon Knight is returning as Associate Head Coach, a position he last held during Paul Flanagan's last season in 2021-22. It also lists former Swedish international goaltender Patricia Elsmore-Sautter (UMD '05) as an assistant coach. Elsmore-Sautter has been coaching and a team excec in Minnesota since her retirement as a player, coaching women's hockey in various roles at DIII St. Scholastica, high schools Cloquet-Esko-Carlton, and Rocket Ride. She has also been a coach and assistant GM for the Minnesota Wilderness boys/mens programs.
