I believe that was a quarterfinal - not a first round game. http://www.collegehockeystats.net/1314/boxes/madrsnb1.m15Adrian played at SNC in the first round in 2014. That was the first season of the "new" NCHA, so they were conference opponents at the time.

The avoiding intra-conference matchups rule is newer. I believe it went in last year or the year before.

I was merely pointing out that they were not the only low SOS team to have a high ranking. And I'm certainly not saying that Hobart doesn't deserve to be #1... I'm less outraged by Salve Regina's circumstance since they didn't try to do this. If others start changing their schedules to try and do this, then we have a problem. I'm not losing any sleep over this years' NPI...Still not 87 and only playing 20 qualifying games !

I say this as a St Norbert fan...they blew late home leads against Olaf, Stout, and Adrian. They got shoutout against CUW. If you flip the result of any of those games, they are in the field. But based on all of that I can't say they deserve it more than any other team with a similar number of losses.I understand your point, but is it fair to a team like Stout, Babson, or St Norbert that play a strong schedule all season to possibly be left out by one position because Salve gets in.

Babson's schedule is bad.
