2025-26 Penn State Nittany Lions

All I know is that she comes from a hockey family and her success is not a surprise. Penn State used to get their fair share of players from Eastern Ontario and it is nice to see PSU is still able to recruit there.

Well, family commitments kept me from this game, but Penn State finished the sweep of Vermont 5-3 this afternoon, with goals from five different players (Tessa Janecke, Taylor Lum, Maddy Christian, Leah Stecker, and Mikah Keller). It looks like they let Vermont get busy in the third period with two goals, so that's something they're going to have to tighten up. Penn State moves to 4-0 on the season, 2-0 at home and 2-0 on the road.

Next weekend they're on the road to face former Penn State coach Allison Coomey's Delaware team to open up conference play.

7 total blocks is really light. Five goals will cover up a lot of stuff. Coomey has been gone for two classes which means she does not know more than half the team so I don't think Delaware will be able to exploit any tendencies she may have noticed by being on the ice with the players because of the turnover on PSU's roster.

Delaware split with Holy Cross over the weekend for their first win. Meanwhile, Mercyhurst is looming on the schedule for the following weekend and Sisti has retooled the team with what looks like 12 new players. Mercyhurst has quite the pipeline going with Sweden and Finland and if course the requisite Stoney Creek players. Mercyhurst's leading scorer is a redshirt frosh from Sweden. Mercyhurst also has last year's rookie of the year, Scanlin. Two players transferred out, one to Clarkson, McKay and one to UMD, Thea J.

It's game day, and finally the matchup between Jeff Kampersal and Allison Coomey is here. Okay, it's Delaware, so nobody is pretending that this series will be a nailbiter, but it will still be fun just for the "former Penn State associate head coach" angle. It's streaming on FloHockey, if you want to pay for that. If nothing else, it's another series for Kampersal to make any adjustments he wants before we really get into the grind. Game times are 6:00 Eastern tonight, and 2:00 Eastern tomorrow.

No Janecke in the lineup for Game 1 (due to Team USA camp this week) so we'll see how the team does without her. Currently up 1-0 halfway through the 1st.

Penn State wins the first one 5-0 on goals from Maddy Christian, Sophie Morrow, and a hat trick from Grace Outwater. Shots on goal were 56-10...yada yada yada. Tessa Janecke was away at the Olympic camp, so this was everyone else doing the job, which is good to see.

I think Outwater was robbed last year of Rookie of the year and she will meet up with the Rookie of the year last year, Scanlin next week against Mercyhurst. Christian is showing that her scoring prowess from last year is carrying over to this season also. Desa is solid again.
