2025-26 Division III Women's Hockey

Lily Mortenson makes much more sense for that spot given she actually plays for a western school.

And I promise I wasn't hallucinating, I have the screenshot

Looks like some technical difficulties for the commentators to start semi #1 between Nazareth and Norwich. The NCAA did put some effort as the opening graphics said Kelly Jo Freichel, one of the most accomplished female announcers in hockey, is on the call. It's a shame something has happened

Norwich scores 2 goals within about 16 seconds, 5 minutes into the first.

The audio was fixed around 7 minutes in and we can hear the announcers. Hopefully, they can keep the config intact for the rest of the weekend.

Absolutely embarrassing for the NCAA to not have working audio for their first 7 minutes of that game.

How did you not test it 20 times before the start of the game?

The buzzing/static noise that was the audio when the stream came up sounded like a cable issue, which might have broken or come loose. Maybe someone stepped on or knocked into something without realizing.

4-3 Norwich with 10:30 left in the 3rd. Play stopped as after a player crashed into the boards, one of the NCAA board banners came loose, and became an on-ice obstruction.

After being down 3-0 after the first, Nazareth ties it at 4 after three forwards crash the net together. 6 minutes left in the third. Golden Flyers have all the momentum.

What a collapse by Norwich...Nazareth wins 27 seconds into OT. They face the winner of Amherst vs UWRF
You said it best. Absolute collapse by Norwich.

Up 3-0 and 4-2 and somehow dont win.

They were lucky to not lose it a few moments before the GWG when they gave up an odd player rush almost instantaneously.

I didn’t have a good feeling once we went to OT…the way the two teams went off it was all Nazareth momentum wise and confidence wise and sure enough 30 seconds in it’s over.

Colored me surprised…I really thought Norwich was going to have more poise. But turns out, Nazareth showed some impressive resiliency after looking completely lost in the first 10 minutes of the game.

Hat tipped to Naz…Norwich is going to be thinking about that one for a long time. Brunet certainly wants that last goal back.

3-0 UWRF after 2. The Falcons went up 1-0 on a power play goal from Alexa Niccum in the 1st. They added two more in the second frame, a power play goal from Goodreau and a breakaway from Madison Kadrlik where Stott had the pad save on the initial breakaway shot; the puck rebounded right to Kadrlik, who pulled it around Stott's outstretched leg to score.

What stands out to me is two things: UWRF has more dangerous forwards than Amherst and the Falcons as a whole are moving the puck significantly faster than the mammoths which is not a good recipe for Amherst.

I said early on in the season that this UWRF team reminded me of the 2015-16 Plattsburgh squad from a decade ago who were the runaway favorites from October to March, and nothing has disabused me of that idea.

EDIT: I meant to add that with her assist on the opening goal and scoring the second goal, Megan Goodreau is now one point away from tying Laura Hurd's single-season points record that has stood since 2002, meaning it was set over 2 years before Goodreau was even born.

Maeve Reynolds breaks the shutout for O'Kane with a power play goal, but it was too late to affect the outcome. We have a 3-1 final. The University of Wisconsin - River Falls Falcons will defend their two consecutive championships at home on Sunday as they will face Nazareth.
