2025-26 Division III Women's Hockey

There's also 2013 when it had to be out west after being east 3 straight years so they made a predetermined site of UW-Superior.

Plattsburgh went in undefeated, got shut out by Middlebury who then lost to Elmira in the championship. And my understanding has always been all three teams were on one chartered plane (though that may be legend).
 
Just ran into the Endicott Gulls team at a local Target getting some snacks after their flight from Boston to Minneapolis/St, Paul this morning. They flew out with I assume the Anna Maria men's team headed to UW Stout. All the players and their luggage arrived, hoping the sticks show up for the skate/practice tomorrow.

In 2013 indeed all 3 teams were on the same chartered flight. I believe they met in Albany and flew out.

In 2017 out in Adrian, Plattsburgh and Norwich were on the same chartered flight.
 
It's (mostly) puck drop time for the First Round of the D3 Women's tournament. There are too many games running at the same time to watch all of them at the same time, so my primary one is St. Benidict vs Amherst with frequent check-ins for the Williams / Plattsburg game.
 
Wilkes has advanced over Adrian 2-1.

Both CSB vs Amherst and Plattsburgh vs Williams are going to OT tied at 1.

Elmira leads Augsburg 3-1 after 2 periods. Amazing how the Soaring Eagles take flight at just the right time these past few seasons.

Hamline leads Endicott 1-0 after 2.

That can't be. We are told over and over again how the western teams are the most screwed in history thanks to the NPI, eastern bias, and NESCAC behind the scenes string pulling. They wouldn't dare prove themselves wrong. Oh, the horror, the horror.....

(Though, to be honest, I fully expect River Falls to take it all.)
 
So the quarterfinals are set as:

Williams at UW-River Falls
Hamline at Norwich

Wilkes at Nazareth
Elmira at Amherst

Unless Williams upsets the 2-time defending champs, the NCAA is on the hook for guaranteed 2 flights, possibly 3 (if Norwich beats Hamline at home).

The same west that has back to back titles?…. Soon to be back to back to back? Nice chirp tho!
