It’s ironic that the #1 overall seed gets to play the early semifinal when all Hobart probably wants is a couple more hours of rest.
Big advantage there. Trinity averaged something like 266 fans this year. I'd guess that they'll have > 300 for the FF.
Not sure, but I think the host(Trinity) had the choice to make that determination. I don't think it matters as the team left for Hartford early yesterday , in order to be well settled in the hotel and get in some time on the ice today. The experience from 1-0 OT win on that ice over Trinity earlier in the year helps going into the weekend. I know they will be totally hydrated for the UC game , just in case. They'll be ready , and feel confident since the Curry game was meant to test them. They had so many chances against Curry but the combination of a hot goalie and the unpredictable bouncing puck just shows you how you must take advantage of every chance. Hobart should be coming out very aggressive on offense tomorrow , as they know UC has the horses to challenge Beaver and the defense. It should be a great game.
My Hobart comment was really more of a rhetorical statement. I’m pretty sure the #1 seed always plays the early game… pretty much in any sport/tournament I can think of.
I doubt they let the host team decide. Who’s to say the host team would even make it to the frozen four?
Good luck to Hobart. I’m sensing a rare all-east final this year.
There's no doubt the NCAA dictated the Trinity game be the primetime game once the "home" team made it.
But even then, when it was at Lake Placid, they always tried to put the game which they felt would get the better attendance as the late game.
Could be reminiscent of 2017.
I won't look that up, but did 2017 feature a FF with a host school involved, playing at its home rink?
Seems to me that a few (or maybe hundreds) of very casual fans in and around Hartford might fork over $15 to see their local team play.
Sure, Trinity's average attendance was embarrassing this season, but front-runner fans tend to emerge from the woodwork at this time of year.
What would be the best venue for streaming both of these games. I have not seen the games advertised on YouTube
