2024-25 Schedules

Have they ever gotten a western team for that tournament?

I have legit 0 idea but with all this talk of how little east teams play west teams tournaments like this during thanksgiving or winter break are the best opportunities for such games to happen. This is why I also wish buff state would move their tournament from the 1st week of the season to either thanksgiving or winter break as other than fredonia or chatham theyre the closet to all these western schools.

It costs money to travel. And most tournaments that have western teams pay the western teams to get there. And most tournaments don't have that kind of money, which is why only a few of them do it. Considering the teams the NC tournament attracts, two of them are "home," they are not going to be paying western teams to travel all the way up to the North Country, which isn't cheap once you have to consider flying to say Syracuse, renting a bus, and then driving a long ways from the airport.

Buffalo is nicely positioned geographically, and they could rely more on a reciprocal travel schedule arrangement. But, they still need money to do that.

It's easy for us to sit here and complain there is no inter-region play, when we're not paying the bills.

Thats the thing i couldve swore some western coaches were complaining about it when discussing the brackets. I cant remember the exact details and who exactly said what but if ur gonna complain about something u better start fixing the problem

Yeah, it’s complicated. :-(

And considering Buffalo State announced today it was cutting 37 academic programs to start cutting into a $16.5M budget deficit, they’re not like to start throwing money at athletics any time soon…

Jan. 12 - UNE/Wilkes (Comfort Inn Winter Classic)

2 Home games in the 1st 2 months of the season is a bold strategy also once again a seemingly relative weak non conference schedule( or all the tough opponents are on the road which is also not ideal)

I couldn't agree more with both of your points. A weak S.o.S. can sink your bid aspirations. They play NU as a given and possibly Marian or Middlebury (again) in the Layer8 Tournament. And perhaps bussing it to Buff State/Fred in November & December is more tolerable than the Western NY swing in mid January/February.

I believe they have a game against Plymouth State on the road.

Non conference includes fredonia twice the buff state tournament and elmira. Not to mention one of their scrimmages is at home vs morrisville. Probably the lamest (and cheapest/cost effective) schedule ever

I’m not going to get too critical over any of the SUNY school’s NC schedules this upcoming season. These changes were made so last minute, trying to find opponents is going to be difficult. Just look at the other SUNY schools who have released schedules. (Potsdam and Fredonia play each other in two NC games, for example.)

You may be disappointed in how Oswego finds games this year. (I don’t know anything. I’m just guessing.) Like bakdraft says, hopefully Oswego and Geneseo solve their respective scheduling problem by playing each other.

I sure hope we dont play them. Our schedule is hard enough and cortland essentially replaces genny for the big 3 in the sunyac. I would like to actually have an opportunity to get an at large bid for once (even though wed probably piss it away anyway)
