2024-25 Penn State Nittany Lions

The CHA is history - after merging with the Atlantic Hockey Association, the united conference is now Atlantic Hockey America: https://gopsusports.com/news/2024/4/...y-america.aspx

Atlantic Hockey America Women’s League.
The A-HAWL. What’s not to love?

The men are the A-HAML.

Or, the women go by AHA and the men go by Atlantic Hockey?

Time will tell. Cheers to a new era. Coach Sisti probably the only women’s coach to coach in 3 D1 leagues.

I was thinking about potential realignment in the future…. Wonder if Holy Cross and Sacred Heart will end up in the Mercyhurst league like their men’s teams, Penn State to a B1G Ten (assuming 2 new big ten teams at some point), Lindenwood to a WCHA. Everyone would have the requisite 6 teams for an auto bid.

Has anyone heard any whispers about who might be filling the vacant coaching spot left by Allison Coomey? Penn State is notoriously slow about announcing things like that, but I'm wondering if there are any names floating around.

How about someone like Lindsay Eastwood? Let her help out with practice, have her broadcast in the booth and have her recruit up in Ontario and the rest of Canada. Think outside the box. Remember you already have three coaches. I know she retired from playing. No clue on any candidates. But, with the Canadian dollar at 1.36, if you can't get a full ride, the US schools are pricing themselves out of a lot of solid CDN players and I think the Canadian players are attracted to Penn State and if she is not a candidate.....someone should get on the hotline.

True, but I can't imagine Jeff Kampersal planning to go into next season with just his goalie coach and Mackenna Newkirk coaching with him. Allison Coomey left a big void on the bench, and Newkirk isn't at Coomey's level yet (she's only five years out of college). I'm just wondering if there are any experienced assistant coaches even available, especially someone at Coomey's level.

I liked Coomey, like Newkirk and the goalie coach had three different CHA goalie award winners. That kind of speaks for itself. Somebody that can help recruit is key in my opinion over experience.

I must have read it somewhere, but for some reason I think Allison Coomey was the defense coach, so either Mackenna Newkirk picks that up or Kampersal needs a new defense coach. I don't know Newkirk's role or what she coaches specifically. I agree 100% on looking for a good recruiter, and I think that's another role that Coomey specialized in, as she has deep ties to Team USA.

Met the Hartmetz family for the first time and absolutely got the impression that Sloane is headed to Penn State. Odd considering her sister Hadley was a Buckeye--and following Sophie Morrow doing the same thing the year previously when her sister Sydney was also a Buckeye. Things that make you go "hmmmm". Must be something in the water at SSM;)

Penn State announced the signing of two transfers: forward Tiffany Hill from Dartmouth and goalie Lauren Barbro from Minnesota State.

Another Shattuck Player - is this a pattern? I think first time recruits from Albany, New York and Nova Scotia.

The Canadians do seem to like PSU lately. Eight new players and more importantly no surprise losses. You can always tell when someone graduates or had that job and leaves that was in charge of Twitter posts.

I'm also looking forward to this -- I'd like for Penn State to play Ohio State every year.

It would be a great series. A word of advice for anyone making the trip for it, where the tournament is being played is the Ice Haus which is the practice rink of the Blue Jackets and is connected to Nationwide Arena. The seating capacity is probably about the same as our barn so unless you're a PSU parent who probably gets on the list buy your tickets as soon as they go on sale or you probably won't get them.

That's a different schedule for sure, I do like the three tournaments. I'm thinking Kampersal thinks he has a really good team this year or he never would have signed up for three tournaments. It maybe wishful thinking on my part, but time will tell.

It looks like a solid roster this year, and 14 of the 22 are juniors, seniors, or grads, so there's a lot of experience going into 2024-25. Position numbers are the same as last season with the exception of one additional forward, so 12 forwards, 7 defenders, and 3 goalies. They really didn't lose any offensive mojo to graduation, so all in all Kampersal should like how they're set up for next season.
