2024-25: D3whky

Middlebury.

Plattsburgh (if they get back up on top) or Oswego (if they can make the next leap).

I don't what Amherst's rink is like.

If they are going to lean East, they will pick the top Eastern seed if the rink is good enough. That's been the protocol in the past. Heck, the men went to Endicott for crying out loud (though only Adrian was from the west and they didn't have any good eastern choices)

They better not go back to Amherst that rink is awful

Based off media that was there, they were very much impressed with UWRF's hosting ability, and it obviously helped having two local teams in it with big fanbases. Amherst traveled pretty well for an east team too. Middlebury's turnout was very disappointing.

I feel that predetermined sites being every other year will be the move going forward, mirroring the men, as we're still in the trial period. Although I'm sure Plattsburgh's turn in 2027 means nothing is set in stone yet, but I expect them to do a good job.

If they go that route, there's definitely some excellent on-campus rinks that I believe would be great for the women's game if they go pre-determined.

River Falls, Middlebury, Plattsburgh, and Norwich are probably the best equipped.

In my opinion, the next two picks should be Gustavus and Oswego, as they have amazing facilities and athletic staffs.

I'd love to see St. Olaf get one. Their rink is brand spanking new, large enough (not huge), and like Gustavus, has a beautiful campus.

We'll see how St. Norberts' new rink turns out post-construction. Colby is also a great choice. Elmira's is a classic too, and obviously, Utica's Nexus Center is clearly on the table.

In the back of my head, I was thinking that... But I couldn't remember.
I still would love to see it attempted one time and have both the men’s and women’s FF at placid on same weekend.

One gender plays Thursday/Saturday and the other Friday/Sunday. The concession to make it work for ice time would be that the teams that do the morning skate the day of the game would have to do them at the 1932 rink instead of 1980.

Generally those aren’t full team practices anyway and it’s more a chance to test the legs or for the non-dressed to get some time.

I think it would be fantastic and a great celebration of D

If they did that, it would mean Lake Placid would be the only sight that held all four of the college hockey championships.

Utica next year. Put the women in the Nexus Center, so that will give them their own "signage". Some may scream gender inequality because they get the smaller venue, but unless Utica makes it, it probably won't be an issue. Still alternate, so something is happening each day for four days in Utica.

Norwich has named Brown's Associate HC Justin Simpson as their next Head Coach, replacing Sophie Leclerc

Anyone know anything about the other finalists? Seems like a kinda random hire...
From what I hear, there were three finalists brought to campus. Two were very good in their interviews and then Simpson came in and blew everyone out of the water. The people I know in the women's hockey world have referred to him as a "home run hire". Sophie is very happy with his selection to take over the program as well.

DIIIHockeyNews made their own awards. I don't see any All-USCHO teams for the DIII women this year so I'm happy someone is picking that up

I think this is a massive hire one way or the other. It seems like Norwich hockey is at a crossroads. Both the men and the women, particularly with the conference change.
I've heard nothing but INCREDIBLE things about Justin and it seems like Norwich hit a home run with the hire on the women's side. I'll be really curious to see who they end up with on the men's side.

There is no doubt it's a step down for the men and women on the conference side with the move from the NEHC to LEC. Hopefully they'll regain their footing, but at-large bids and strength of schedule definitely likely to take a hit in the new league.

All American candidate Haylee Bouchard from Wilkes is in the portal after 2 straight 30 plus point seasons. Huge potential get with 2 years of eligibility remaining.

I’d have to think Utica and Plattsburgh will be calling

I heard she jumped in the portal after losing her A over her leadership off-ice despite her stellar play. She was named to D3HN's 2nd Team East in their release today:
