2023 NCAA Women's Tournament - Scores and Comments

Clarkson player called for a major penalty (boarding I believe) at the end of the 1st period. A golden opportunity for the dogs to build on their 1-0 lead, which will carry over into the 2nd.
The Dogs couldn't do anything with a two man advantage for nearly a minute. So they "whiffed" on a golden opportunity to build on their 1-0 lead. And as I finish this post Clarkson takes another penalty to give UMD another opportunity to expand on their lead.

UMD's power play has been somewhat less than impressive tonight.

The very aggressive PK of Clarkson completely ate up the careful and deliberate Power Play UMD put on.

Cherkowski picks up Clarkson's second major penalty of the game, and a game misconduct as well. Both majors were thoroughly deserved.

Clarkson with yet another dirty hit resulting in a 5 minute major and an ejection for former Gopher Cherkoski. We'll see if the Dogs can take advantage this time.

I agree. All the penalties on Clarkson were deserved. More than likely you can chalk up another shutout for Soderberg.

After a 20 minute O.T. Penn State and Quinnipiac are still tied at 2-2. Shots are also tied at 40-40!

The Bulldogs are outshooting Clarkson 26-12, but I'm not sure that they've been appreciably better at anything other than not getting sent to their crate.

All female officials for UMD-Clarkson?

All 4 are Hockey East officials. The two refs are Kelly Cooke and Chelsea Rapin. Kelly played at Princeton and Chelsea played at Vermont. They both worked women's games at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Cooke did the Gold Medal game.

The UMD Bulldogs prevail over Clarkson by a score of 2-0. Taylor Stewart with both goals, and Emma Soderberg with the shutout. Shots on goal were 27-15. The Bulldogs will face off against the Gophers in the Quarterfinal on Sunday.
