2023 ECAC Grand Unified Thread

Kepler

Cornell Big Red
Seeing as we are 25% of the national field, a place to mutually root one another on for the next three weeks, before we resume tearing each other to shreds.

Thu 5:30: #13 Cornell v. #4 Denver, at Manchester
Fri 2:00: #7 Harvard v. #9 Ohio State, at Bridgeport
Fri 5:30: #2 Quinnipiac v. #14 Merrimack, at Bridgeport
Fri 8:30: #25 Colgate v. #3 Michigan, at Allentown

This thread is lovely! It will drive the rest of the country fairly crazy, but isn't that what fan forums were created for? Let's see if the threat can get through the weekend. Congrats to 'Gate for getting there and the other three for continued success. Tip of the cap to the 5th years who were part of Cornell's COVID cancelled incredible season...getting here is nice, winning a regional as the 13th seed would be so great.

Colgate played beautifully in both their wins. I was impressed and very happy for Guylander getting the MVP.

Great thread. This is the time of year where we put aside our collective differences and root for the conference. Would love to see all ECAC teams win their first round games (and then of course Harvard take down Quinny!).

Does anyone know the last time the ECAC sent four teams to the NCAA tournament? Has it even ever happened in the past?

ECAC Hockey team winning streaks entering the 2023 NCAA Regionals:
Quinnipiac - 0
Harvard - 0
Cornell - 0
Colgate - 5*

*not including the shoot-out win over Brown on 02/25/23

Go ECAC Hockey!!

Hello folks, have not been around much due to a move to Florida in 2020. As a Yale fan I have a major dilemma with all four teams. Harvard, just can't, it's in the blood. Cornell, sorry the newspapers annoyed me all these years. QU, although I am a New Haven native and think they have the dominant program these days, I just can't get past the fact that they still think they were better than Yale in 2013. Sooo, that leaves me with Colgate. I have somewhat off an axe to grind with them because they dumped their horrific former AD upon Yale. Vicky has basically ignored the Yale Mens hockey program and although there have been a myriad of other issues involving said program, I have to say Go Gate. Maybe they can pull off a Yale/Union type win, who knows. Seriously, good luck to all the ECAC programs, I plan on going to Tampa and hope to see some representation.

The only fifth year on Cornell is Andreev. There are eight fourth-year seniors who were part of the incredible (/incredibly sad) 2019-20 season, though.

Wishing all the ECAC teams success this weekend! It would be nice for the league to make a statement. If anyone is going to the Bridgeport Regional, I have suggestions. The arena is literally mere blocks down the street from my office.

The SOS average of the four ECAC teams heading to the NCAA tournament vs. the rest of the field (less Canisius) - 90.3 / 163.48
The SOS average of the four ECAC teams heading to the NCAA tournament vs. the rest of the field back in 2013 - 132.0 / 136.5
Did they change how the SOS is calculated? This data is from College Hockey News.

This year, the remainder of the ECAC brought down the SOS of the 4 teams in the tourney a lot.

I’ll go to my grave believing that and that there was a hole in the side of the net and that the pucks had magnets in them and Jeff Malcolm had a magnet in the dead center of his chest that night.

Joking aside, despite the massive disappointment it was to lose to Gate in the semis, I am happy that they won it all to give our “poverty conference” the same amount of bids as the “new add on conference to the NHL” the Big Ten.

The Western teams have spent the entire year poo pooing the East so I hope all 4 teams represent well. I feel as if we will have a representative out of the Bridgeport regional, although I’m not entirely convinced it won’t be Harvard as we’ve handled them too easily, for how good they are, in our first two meetings.

Cornell is hosting a viewing tomorrow at Lynah Rink on their big-screen. Admission is free and doors open at 5 p.m. for the 5:30 p.m. game vs. Denver at Manchester, N.H. The funeral is Friday.

(sorry… I couldn’t resist that last line)

I love how the threat starts with a message of unity and putting our feelings aside for the weekend...support the ECAC!! Until a QU fan poops on Cornell's chances. Stay classy IBT. My dislike for the deep traditions and long history of everything QU hockey will be set aside for at least the first two periods in Bridgeport. Nice home game.....

I stand corrected. Thanks for the clarification...that whole group should have a little jump in their collective step this afternoon.

IBT is a Colgate fan.
