After repeated virtual assurances by my “provider” that I could stream, I was forced into frantic scrolling through channels featuring Division 1A Cheerleading Regionals and “Edge of Insanity,” which is where I was, so I went to radioland (what a tripp!) where Coyne Schofield announced matter-of-factly that the UMD penalty was a make-up call, while later both she and Tripp were certain that OSU had too many players on the ice in the third period when the distracted refs blew a whistle to stop play after the puck went off a helmet somewhere. I wonder if the video crew caught this.

I actually thought it was a makeup call as well for a play made by a UMD player in the corner right before that went uncalled. But who knows.

There were still too many empty seats in the arena. We'll see what the numbers are at Amsoil and Ridder the next two years. OK, an all WCHA final likely sent some fans packing early, so it goes.

Ya, the whole game had so many weird moments. I'm not sure what was going on with the hockey gods this weekend (perhaps punishment for the discord between the two separate "pro" groups), but both the women's D1 and D3 national championship games had some very strange moments, some of which needed video review and some of which were created by some really bad decisions by coaches and players, particularly by players in today's D1 game.

You are correct about it being a weird weekend. The men’s CCHA conference final between Mankato and Bemidji had a bizarre ending where the trophy was awarded to ‘Kato after a goal in OT and then, an hour later, the teams were brought back on the ice to continue playing as further review overturned the goal. Crazy!

The Ohio 3-2 unless it goes to OT, give me Giguere 3-2.

Or if UMD loses to the Muzzinettes, will Giguere be the only player to play in 2 NC$$ Championship games with different schools?

As it turned out, Teagan Grant became the only player to win a National Title with two different schools, and in back-to-back seasons (2021 with Wisconsin, 2022 with Ohio State). It's a shame the broadcasters didn't do their homework as they only mentioned Giguere. They also erroneously said Ohio State had never won a National Title in a women's team sport (have won a number of synchronized swimming titles and also a few rowing titles).

They made a correction in the National Championship game and mentioned the synchronized swimming and rowing titles for OSU.

I knew that men's crew is NOT an NCAA governed sport (Intercollegiate Rowing Assoc), so I thought there might be a loophole for that one. But oddly, women's crew is an NCAA sport.

Yeah, that is correct, women's rowing is sanctioned by the NCAA. We have won 33 Synchronized Swimming Titles and that sport is not governed by the NCAA.
