I would have thought that would be an independently reserve powered system not on the grid. Since you know during a flood grids fail. Now let's all pile into this elevator to escape the fire.

That sounds seriously expensive. Not that the alternative is cheaper, mind you, so surely an independent backup has been considered - I do sympathize a little with the decision makers who were charged with weighing that option.

Red state - everyone away from the coasts (Shreveport, Monroe, Alexandria) would throw a tantrum over paying for that.

Edit 2: Bermuda looks like it could take it on the nose. THe 120-hour (lol) GFS is showing 135 kt winds.

Not sure where you're getting that from. The latest run of the GFS shows it having sustained winds of 95 knots on the 120-hour panel. The previous run has 92 knots.
