2021-22 Penn State Nittany Lions

I'd guess that there is also a Covid factor, with a desire to reduce travel and especially flying. While hours and hours together in a bus would certainly be conducive to spreading the virus, it is at least a more-controlled bubble.

Ah. This makes a ton of sense. Not trying to be flippant but I keep forgetting we are still in a pandemic . Minimizing flights: not just for the selection committee anymore. :-)

No more free parking for hockey games at Penn State - here's the lowdown on what to expect when you show up at Pegula Ice Arena this season:

Just out of curiosity, how does parking work at other hockey arenas around the country? Do you have free parking, and does your arena have a parking deck? That's one thing I wondered when Pegula Ice Arena was being built: why isn't there a parking deck going up for a 6000-seat hockey arena?

I've attended games at many venues, and have never paid for parking. Most universities have a designated lot (not always adjacent to arena) for hockey game parking, but have never had to pay. My guess is some schools may be trying to find ways to generate revenue as a recovery from the lost season from COVID.

RIT has free parking, and the lot isn't right next to the arena, but is like a 5-10 minute walk. Not fun in the snow/wind. But still free.

Places that I recall paying to park: Minnesota, $10 (almost always), lots of parking options, none of which are a good deal; UMD, $5 for an attached ramp (been the same rate for years); UND (remember them?) and BSU, had to pay sometimes but not always, for a surface lot; UW and Mankato, on rare occasions when something else was going on; don't every remember paying in St. Cloud.

It's tough not to pay in Boston that's for Sure. UCONN tickets like crazy if you park illegally. Don't ask me where they expect you to park though as it was never clear to me.

Are there any known Penn State or CHA rules for fans (or no fans) regarding attending games in person this season? Mask/no mask, Vaxx card, players family only, or other rules a non-PSU family member might need to be aware of prior to booking flights or travel to see a game at Pegula this fall/winter?

This will be a non-answer, but I've heard everything from no mask with vax card and mask without a vax card, then mask for everyone, and now I just have no idea. I couldn't tell you where I read any of this, but the last thing to stick in my head was that everyone will need a mask, regardless of vaccination status. I'd just bring a mask with you.

Penn State is actively advertising season tickets and renewals, so fans in seats is a go as of now.

I'm pretty sure zambonidriver is a player parent, so maybe he has (or can get) clearer info on this.

Only requirement is mask at all Penn State indoor activities.

Do you know anything about the parking, now that they're going to charge for it? Everything I've seen about the new parking fees mentions lots all around Pegula, but nothing mentions being allowed to park in the Pegula lot (which has happened before, believe it or not).

Here is what I know. Not much as last year was our first year but I will help if I can. We parked in the lot in front of the main entance. which I believe you can still do after 4 on week days. We also parked in the lot across the street which was a football stadium lot. Both were free. Being we fly in we will be using our daughters car and she has a parking pass for the players lot outside the players entrance so that is where we will park.
