"You want to go to war motherf-cker? We’re going to war. And you’re gonna be the first motherf-cking casualty," a man says in the voicemail.

The right wing media in this country has radicalized more people than any Arab fundamentalist.

It is remarkable they haven't started mass murdering systemically, yet. It will come as they begin to lose power.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers: Who ISN'T Running At This Point?

Yeah, not liking the mayor so much now.

Like I said, he isn't that liberal. But if that's his smoking gun... well, the haters are gonna have to work harder. It's dumb and militarist, yeah, but he is a veteran after all; I'm sure he has his grunt blind spots.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers: Who ISN'T Running At This Point?

Yeah, not liking the mayor so much now.

He also fired the police department's communications director who found out about the recordings, and then was ordered to continue to record certain cops so by the police chief Buttigieg demoted. I am well acquainted with one of the cops in the scandal and while my well-known distaste for the police appears to cloud many of my thoughts about cops in general, I can verify that guy is straight up racist and everything bad about cops in today's world. The whole recordings issue has been one long drawn out joke with idiots on all sides. Karen Depaepe, the communication's director, was the only player in this who wasn't a complete idiot. I believe she sued after her termination and settled out of court for a significant sum.

If you think all that is questionable, you should study the history of the Saint Joseph County (where South Bend is located) Sheriffs/Police departments. Multiple sheriff's sent to prison, scandals with TV news personalities that resulted in cops shooting other cops, prostitution, protection for strip clubs... It's wonderful.

You arent going to find a candidate that doesnt have something you dont like...and if you do chances are they get smoked anyways.

I already know my fave is going to get smoked. I'll still be voting for Mayor Pete if he wins the nomination.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers: Who ISN'T Running At This Point?

That is true but as Kep said he is a military guy he might have a blind spot for these types of things. We will have to wait to see how he responds I guess. I doubt he wins the nomination anyways.

I will say this, the media doesnt have a darling in this one yet. They are vetting every one of these candidates pretty hardcore so there is no sense of entitlement. Overall I like that even if sometimes it does come off as petty. Better to have the issues out in front now than when it is too late.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers: Who ISN'T Running At This Point?

Never underestimate a rich, gay white man's ability to be just as racist as Cleetus. Not saying it's a rule, but some of you might be surprised.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers: Who ISN'T Running At This Point?

Yeah this is the guy being bullied acting tough to try and stop the bullies.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers: Who ISN'T Running At This Point?

The guy who thinks he is being bullied, when really he's just losing the argument.

That is such an excellent refinement.

It’s like whitey the MRA. He’s oppressed because women are getting equal pay and blacks don’t have to drink out of another fountain.

Reaction to the billions in free advertising the "liberal" media gave Fanta Menace in 2015-16.

One possible way to look at it is that they are beating Trump to the punch. Get in front of it, before the insults fly and influence the voters.

On the local radio front, Pat Kessler said that none of Biden's actions were/are considered sexual. It was just an invasion of private space. I can agree with that. From what I have learned, he's a "hugger" type of person. Well, those parameters have changed since those actions occurred. If he does change his approach, I think all is good.

Yup, that's the whole point of having the nominating contest! Of the so-called "scandals" that have popped up I'd say O'Rourke (DUI in past) and Harris (banging senior colleague then getting promotion out of it) handled theirs well. Sanders took a few days to clean up a tone deaf comment about sexual harassment in his 2016 campaign but doesn't seem any worse off because of it. Jury's still out on Biden's "invasion of personal space".

On the flip side, Klobuchar still looks bad trying to turn the a sshole boss thing into a positive. Warren not being forthright about how often she claimed Native American ancestry continues to haunt her unfortunately and I don't see where Gillenbrand has any credibility as the chief MeToo warrior when her own office and herself failed to handle a sexual harassment accusation against a top staffer.

In the future, everyone will have a "lethal disqualifying scandal" that will last for 15 minutes and then be either resolved, tabled, or forgotten.

It is healthy to be going through this interregnum of OH NOES OH MY GOD THATS IT I'M DONE WITH YOU scandals publicly as it demonstrates to even the dumbest people in the gen pop and the even sadder sacks in the national media what smart people have understood for years: the automatic rush to pillory is exactly the same instinct as the automatic rush to whitewash. Or, as somebody brilliant ahem said years ago, alleged victims have a right to be heard, not to be believed.

We are having a national discussion about things like assault, harassment, intimidation, privilege, and everyday swine-bro dou-chebaggery. It's getting discussed whereas it used to fester and be private shame and pain. Two cheers for having people talking about it, even though that invites the trolls and the haters and reinforces the godawful truth that 90% of the population can't think its way out of a paper bag. Eventually, we'll all be better for it. The genuinely evil f-cktards who want to perpetuate hierarchies and oppression use silence and shame to ram their agenda implicitly down everyone's throats. Sunlight is a disinfectant, even if it also reveals how gross your neighbors are.

Your comments remind me of the alleged scandals down in VA. I give Northam and the AG credit for putting their head down and getting back to work while the media got bored and found something else to chase (the LT Gov's situation is much more serious of course).
