2020 Democratic Challengers: Who ISN'T Running At This Point?

Beto may just be an empty-headed pretty boy who is great at riling up a crowd. If he is then for f-ck's sake shove him on the ticket underneath Harris or Amy or Warren or Bernie. A pretty smile goes a long way in this stupid American Idol game, and I am sick to death of seeing that vacuous wealthtard humping Old Glory at his Nuremberg rallies.

Beto definitely is a better VP pick right now than a top of the ticket guy IMHO.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers: Who ISN'T Running At This Point?

Gotta disagree here. I'm not on board the Beto train yet but again, this Dem primary contest is about who connects best with the American people to drive turnout, not about policy as they're all in lockstep on about 90% of their issues. O'Rourke has pretty much been vetted already by the media and the public due to a high profile Senate race (as have Warren, Biden, and Bernie). So, not as much worry about a disqualifying surprise in his past although in the age of Chump I'm not sure that matters anymore. If he can inspire the masses better than everyone else running I'd be thrilled with him as the nominee. Dude doesn't seem to have much trouble generating excitement.

Beto hasnt proven he can win the big race just yet. He killed it in Texas but he still lost. Plus is rather inexperienced...

If he can get an Obama-like groundswell (not likely since the Bernie Bros already hate him) going then all bets are off but right now he isnt exactly crushing the rest of the competition.

But who else has? Harris' Senate race was a layup as was Booker's. Warren did beat an accidental Senator but that was in a Presidential year in Massachusetts for chrissakes. Bernie represents Vermont. Sherrod Brown would be a good example of what you're looking for but he isn't running.

Correct.

Good post.

Hickenloopers dumb comment yesterday isn’t endearing him. I get he wants to “have equality” but every single Vp has been a dude, so women don’t find your “why isn’t anyone asking the women running If theyd choose a man” charming.

I get his point but that's one of those things you don't say out loud! :D Regardless Hick was never in any real danger of winning the nomination anyway. ;)

Whats your point? They still win their races and he didnt. All he has proven is he can get people to like him (btw I am one of them...I like him a lot) which is great. Call me after a debate or two and then we can discuss if he is ready for prime time or not.

I think the guy is intriguing...but I wouldnt put my money on him at the top of the ticket. He fits VP better because unlike say Klobuchar or Warren or Harris or Booker he wouldnt be giving up an important job for a ceremonial one.

My point is I don't agree that him losing the TX Senate race is disqualifying for him to be the nominee or even a point against him. What we need is someone who can handle attacks from the right, not just from the left. Harris, Sanders, Booker, etc are representing heavily Dem states and their campaigns biggest concerns were probably getting outflanked on the left. For the general election for Prez, Beto (ala Sherrod Brown if he had run) has more relevant experience.

48% in a large red state is more impressive than 61% in a large blue state if we're looking at running for nation wide office

I didn't say it wasn't. But that doesn't prove anything other than he can make it close. That is great...but plenty of teams think they are good cause they do better than expected against better teams but they don't win so it doesn't matter anyways.

This isn't a controversial opinion...it isn't like he is some lock to win or something. He is a good candidate who hasn't proved he is a great one yet.

And again...I like him and defend him when the Bernie ROs attack him for not be Left enough.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers: Who ISN'T Running At This Point?

Not even sure he did better than expected, Trump beat clinton by 9 points in Texas, Cruz beat Beto by about 2. Dems got an 8 point swing in the midterms on average. Basically he performed about as well as an average generic Dem against Ted Cruz.
