Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers Vi: The Undiscovered Country

From what I've seen, you've got to get up pretty early in the morning to out crazy the Yangbangers!

Where did these people come from? I understand the Ron Paul It's Happening people -- they were marinating in the libertarian stew for decades. And I get Bernie Bros -- there's always been a strong anti-Establishment Left going back to the SDS.

But is Yang thirty Silicon Valley Mr. Robots creating billions of fake accounts from python scripts?

I love UBI but I also know 99% of the electorate isn't going to even comprehend it, let alone support it, for another 20 years.

No, its that your basic Boston Bro, the ones who come from Southie or Reveah, or Meffuh, the ones you see in videos brawling at Bruins games, or at Red Sox World Series parades, are pretty much indistinguishable from the likes of the folk who attend Trump rallies.

Roofie you're like 20 years behind the times. All those Good Will Hunting people either cashed out (if they were owners) or got priced out (as renters) a looooong time ago. Try buying a place in Southie now big enough for a family with less than a million bucks. The realtor will laugh in your face.

Where'd they move to?

I knew a bunch of ex-Bostonians in NH in the 90s who were working class and racist AF, but they were also the guys who owned the construction company or the shipping company so they were classic new money: huge house, no books. I'm wondering where the Perpetual Irish Underclass of Boston lives now. They still figure prominently in the bleachers at Fenway. Millions of guys who look and talk exactly like Dennis Leary but whose IQ is lower than their shoe size.

If they stayed in the region, NH. If they moved and they're older - Florida. If they're still working - North Carolina. In some cases they've moved south of the city (Foxborough where the Pats play for example). That's getting harder to do though if you work in the city due to the traffic, which is approaching Los Angeles type gridlock. Gillette stadium is about 30 miles from Boston. Ain't nobody moving to RI, CT, ME or VT. ;)

There are no white Poors left in the Boston metro area (let's say within the inner 95 belt)? That sounds unlikely but if true it might be worth moving back. They were the problem; the city itself is cool.

You're telling me these cities aren't racist white f-ckburbs anymore:

Malden
Medford
Chelsea
Revere
All of Southie
Milton
Quincy
Weymouth

Very few. Too expensive. Roxbury is getting unaffordable for longtime residents. Somerville is out of reach and its going to get worse once the Green Line runs through it. Waltham and Watertown got gentrified. Why else do you think people are actually moving TO Worcester????

This blows me away. Roxbury, when I was living in the city, was the place whitey wouldn't go into because of The Element.

My brother was a cabbie in Boston in the 70s. I took him back to where the Combat Zone used to be. He was floored. The place where he was stabbed is now an up market clothing store for as-sholes down from Harvard and Tufts.

Tech jobs is my guess. Again, an old perspective, but you had to go outside the 128 loop to get a job doing anything using your brain when I lived there unless you were affiliated with MIT or the Open SW Foundation. Inside Boston itself, work was still "come down on Thursday and Patrick will get you a job on the force." Everybody was connected and if you were a business owner in the city you either had the idiot children of city councilmen on your staff or you found yourself in zoning and license trouble. The Machine died in Boston (and Providence) last, if it ever died at all.

Fun fact I would never have realized before I lived in the West: Seattle and Portland were huge organized crime towns! They were vicious, too. Pulled people right off the streets into the rackets or prostitution. Evidently anybody coming into town for a convention went out again a couple grand lighter after The Badger Game.

Because there are no rich racists? Phew...

It's a different kind of racism. Mitt Romney is racist with his money and your future. Perchead Pete is racist with his fist and your groin.

They still in Boston, but on the street. Mookie was aghast at the homeless when visiting in August. Too many to count

Only true believers dont question anything and I highly doubt Fade truly believes in any candidate.

I don't believe in any politicians' promises. That's why I've never once donated to a political campaign or a PAC.

Mookie buys shirts from campaigns.

Luckily had the foresight to get McCain (pres and senate) and wore them whenever tD went batty on Twitter.

Nowadays mookie enjoys walking around with his “women for warren” and getting stares :)

I knew a white male in college who wore a "Another black woman for George Wallace!" t-shirt. In all honesty the looks he got were among the most treasured experiences of my life.

For some reason, I get the feeling mookie gets stared at a lot. And not in a good way.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers Vi: The Undiscovered Country

Obvious is obvious.

Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton said Thursday the Russians are currently "grooming" a Democrat running in the presidential primary to run as a third-party candidate and champion their interests.

The comment appears to be directed at Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who has been accused of being cozy with Russia in the past.

"I'm not making any predictions, but I think they've got their eye on somebody who is currently in the Democratic primary and are grooming her to be the third-party candidate," Clinton said, speaking on a podcast with former Obama adviser David Plouffe. "She's the favorite of the Russians."

Clinton never names Gabbard, but there are only five women running for President -- Gabbard, California Sen. Kamala Harris, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar and author Marianne Williamson -- and none of the other woman have been accused of being boosted by Russia.

"They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far," Clinton said.

Every conservative I know also views Gabbard positively which reflects the fawning treatment she gets in the Echo Chamber.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers Vi: The Undiscovered Country

Abuela just keeps peddling the Russia gate nonsense to deflect from her embarrassing loss. And I say this as someone who thinks Tulsi is a nut job who praises fascists and has terrible foreign policy views and isn’t good on anything really. It’s not impossible for her to come up with terrible right wing views without being influenced by the reds.
