Charisma is why Beto needs to be seriously considered if he’s in. People like giving him money, too.
Even if he’s not the most progressive on policy, his charisma can go a long way

He ticks a lot of boxes and has some of the highest potential in the field. Questions remain whether he can handle the stage...but I'm a supporter.

And if he were a Republican none of that would have mattered in the slightest. Repubs can **** porn stars and no one cares.

It's the downside of having a wide tent. More chances to do something that burns you. A Republican just has to say " Abortion is wrong" followed by racist, sexist comments while ****ing anything that moves and their voters fall over themselves to worship the least Christian person in the 20th century to seek the Presidency.

They do appear to have the two litmus test issues locked up on their side where everyone who sides with either of them will never vote Democrat. Never. Can't think of a single Democrat issue that gives the same stupidity or loyalty.

The best thing about Beto is that all of his dirty laundry should already be out there.

The worst thing about Beto is that he couldn't beat the guy who, between the left and the Trumpist right, is arguably the most hated man in America.

Both true. But this is Texas we're talking about. We'll know if he's seriously flawed soon enough.

I think the only one that comes close is a more progressive income tax policy, but even that is not universal.

You don't know very much about Democratic politics if you think fiscal leftism is even remotely close. It's hard enough convincing the moderates that flat taxes are bad.

The equivalent to righty inanity, insofar as it exists, is some of our kneejerk social issues.

My point was that even tax policy isn't something all democrats agree on but you're wrong if you think democrats right now are as all over the map on taxation as they are on other topics, or as they may have been in the recent past, like during the Clinton terms. And yes, they're certainly not in lockstep like the republicans are when it comes to God, Guns, Gays and forcing women to give birth.

Losing to an R in Texas by 3 points isn't a negative. If he only loses Texas by 3 in a presidential race, he wins the white house going away.

Bingo. Plus he helped in plenty of districts in Texas down the ballot. And his popularity went UP after he lost...

If he goes -3 in Texas he will end up with Obama numbers in the EC because he will flip all the swing states back. Hell his popular vote total will be insane. The down ballot repercussions will be ridiculous and the GOP caucus will look like Antietam.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

I don't think there are many on the Dem side that couldn't beat Trump if they win the primary. Bloomberg is maybe the one exception and he's not gonna win the primary.

You never know. Incumbents historically do really well unless the economy is crap and while, yes, for most people the economy is crap, they don't know that because they've been brainwashed into thinking the DJIA means something for them.

Dump better hope they forget about their lower tax returns by election day.

The peculiar institution that is the GOP would refer to that as a "Sharpsburg."
