Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

I'm not one to agree with trix but yeah,

Anybody who's had an a sshole boss is going to identify with her staffers unfortunately. She needs to get out in front of this better than "I demand a lot out of the people who work for me". So did I when I was a manager, but I don't recall winging anything at them at any point and believe me I was tempted to on several occasions.
Part of why I support who I support is because I think that person is actually sincere about improving workers' rights and has addressed this through potential policies and rhetoric consistently. When someone has a pattern of treating their workers like **** and being hostile/abusive towards them I see it as part of a broader problem and I kinda doubt someone like that is going to actively fight the status quo of workers' rights steadily decreasing for 50+ years.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

Fair enough, it fits with the greater pattern which is concerning.

Not even what I am concerned about to be honest. I'm more concerned about the other side of it. We're seeing it in action in Minnesota with the Governor and the budget. You start at pragmatic in your negotiations with the lunatics and you'll never get anywhere.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

Yeah he just turned a blind eye to his Bernie Bros staff skeeving/harassing on women while his wife was committing fraud! (allegedly!!)
He's responsible for every decision his wife makes (and she was cleared by the FBI) and those of some guy he fired immediately.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

So Russian trolls have dug up dirt on Sanders (pervs in his 2016 campaign), Harris (banging Willie Brown), Klobachur (office psycho), and Warren (Native American stuff).

I'd say Sanders seems to have gotten past his issue after initially being caught flat footed. Harris completely skated on hers. Klobachur and Warren's problems are lingering at least in public. In Bernie's case he can legitimately say he has no direct connection or knowledge to the problem staffers in question. With Klobachur its going to be like 50 people coming out and saying it was her acting like a loon. A hostile work environment is what it is especially if dozens of people are claiming it. So far not so good with her initial launch.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

Warren's favorable/unfavorable rating at the national level is underwater at the moment. Unless she can do something to change that, I think she's already sunk. Still a long ways to go, though.

Which is why I said it is in her best interest to not make any real waves. Let the trolls find stuff on everyone else and stay away from the fray.

Warren will never get past the DNA test crap. That blew up in her face badly and it wasnt like she had Bill Clinton level favorables...

Most candidates will be hit with something...best not to engage and best not to attack everyone else when their stuff comes out. None of this stuff will stick past a few weeks the media wont get the clicks past that so they will find something else. If the Harris "controversy" could last (and that had sex involved!!!!) then none of this small stuff will including Amy. The voters have the attention span of gnats these days.

That is the best formula; however, it only works if you're pristine, and, it's not what created the R primaries winner in 2016*.

*Trump used the bully technique: Keep the focus on everyone else's flaws as long as possible (e.g. lyin' Ted, small hands Marco, etc, etc).

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

Dems arent bullies Sica and it wont work if they try to be...especially Amy. She wont make it to the primaries if she attacks other Dems.

This is why I like her at this point. She flat out admitted she was a harsh boss, and took it too far at times in her demands of her employees. Also, she is able to "cross the bridge" between Rs and Ds. The Dems first step is to get someone who can actually win the election. Nominate someone too far left, and they risk the win. She seems like she'll take the slow and steady course, at least until she gets elected. Then, all bets are off, of course, as with any politician.

Should be interesting going forward.

You concern is appreciated and has been noted.

You have noted that I'm in favor of Amy K as of now, and hope she gets the nom, right? Don't be the dismissive type.

To be fair Kep wants someone to the left of Bernie ;)

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

I have. And that is what will lose the election for the Dems. Get the middle to vote for you, and you will win.

If "the middle" has the choice between Trump and someone mentally competent but far left, and they choose Trump, they are not "the middle."

Yep. Has to win the midwest. Period. I love new england, but it does not win the midwest. After that, I care much less about how a D would govern.
