2020 Democratic Challengers III: The Wrath of Warren

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: The Wrath of Warren

Buttigieg's finished IMHO. Lack of experience hit home in the debate. In fact, once again that kos guy ripped me off when he correctly stated a few days after I did about how if Mayor Pete is having trouble running a city of 100,000 people why would you put him in charge of the country? African-American voters won't vote for him which means few if any delegates from Virginia to Texas and down to Florida when those states vote. You can't get wiped out on Super Tuesday and still win the nomination.

Boy, for a guy who's polling at 5% you sure are trying awfully hard to tear him down. :p

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: The Wrath of Warren

Mayor Bill quotes Che Guevara at an event in Miami.

Surprised he got out of town in one piece.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: The Wrath of Warren

Wasn't that like a week and a half ago?

It was the day after the debate because everybody was saying he killed any momentum he had coming out.

He should go back to NYC. He's perfect for running a liberal city. He's not going to get anywhere nationally -- people hate New Yorkers, he's way too smart for the gen pop, and he's a crappy politician.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: The Wrath of Warren

Seriously. Everyone *****es about forgiving student debt even though they didn't bat an eyelash about bailing out banks. And now we're going to let these ****s screw over kids who made an honest mistake by trying to better their lives.

This is a stupid country.

Yeth, It was a mistake to spend student loan money on a Spring Break vacation, and to buy $5 cups of coffee when they could have coffee from the cafeteria for free (or better yet simply go to bed before midnite).
Among dozens of other bad decisions.
This administration is criminal. I hope someone is keeping a running account of everything they do and on 1/24/21 we introduce an omnibus bill to simply undo it all in one stroke. Just back out Dump and restore the prior build.

It won't help the victims in the present but it will restore the country to the Obama era at least. From there we can start repealing all the heists. Forward to 1978. Or 1958.
In the past 20 years our politicians have made some genuinely horrible decisions, Iraq War, among the biggest, but let’s remember that had bipartisan support. Ironically Trump and Obama were both against the war.
And don’t try to push it under the rug Lefties, when push came to shove, Obama supported Too Big To Fail.

To the contrary, even a lot of New Yorkers hate De Blasio.

Newt is scared and is trying to tank her :)

Why do people think Fig's opinion is still in any way relevant?

"Mr. Super Christian" who, while "happily" married, was getting his d*ck sucked by a staffer three years before he yelled at Bill Clinton for the same?

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: The Wrath of Warren

Student loan debt is because people buy coffee

Let's just say, $3/cup at Starbucks/Caribou/etc. 1 cup per day. That's about $1200/year. Maybe try the local gas station where they practically give it away (IIRC it's about 50 cents to a $1). It's not THE reason, not by far, but it's a contributing factor. ;)

Or warm tsp water with a brown crayon :D

I'm more than fine with gas station coffee, if I have coffee, to this day. I like my coffee like I like my men. Black. ;)

All joking aside, I'm not a coffee snob. 12 oz black coffee, just gimme that coffee taste w/caffeine.

its like $2 at caribou (not much cheaper at the gas station for a large, maybe by like 40 cents) and it’s not the reason people are tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands in debt.

Again, it's not THE reason, but that's a lot of money just for coffee. It can be extended to many things. Alcohol, for example. There's a reason that Busch Light Draft/Pig's Eye/Stroh's/Milwaukee's Best was had by my fellow students. It's cheap. Sam Adams (at the time) WAY outta budget. Ramen? Yep, that's a meal.

Don't get me wrong, the loans are disgusting, BUT, the students can also try and help themselves also. You don't need the "best" of everything. It's not a one thing or the other situation.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: The Wrath of Warren

Buying one $3 average coffee, five days a week, for 50 weeks (because subtract holidays) = $750.

Loan balance = $100,000

Monthly payments assume a 7% average interest rate on the standard, 10-year federal repayment plan.

Monthly Student Loan Payment = $1,161
Monthly Coffee Cost = $62.50

A $15/hr job would pay $31,200/yr before taxes.
Monthly take home gross at $15/hr = $2,600
Deduct taxes, etc. = $1,820 monthly net.

That student loan payment is a fu**ing mortgage payment. Go **** yourself. The kids can buy coffee once in a while.

If they would just buy a mattress and set it next to a window that’s all the entertainment they would need and would save money on that fancy internet and tv. Better yet, instead of paying rent, just get a tent and live in the woods. Now there’s nature for fun and no utility bills. Those loans will be gone in an instant!

I went $3/day, 7 days a week, 365 days. Buying coffee is a morning routine. It was actually $1095. Now, if you can cut that into a third, even HALF, that's some extra money. Nickel and diming a budget during the college years adds up. AGAIN, it's NOT the reason, but it is a part of it. When you can save a little bit/cut costs, why wouldn't you?

Spartanforlife4: Don't forget they can save money by not needing a smart phone either. Why would they need something so fancy? Get a flip phone and a pay-as-you-go plan from Wal-Mart. Local libraries have computers they can use to update their resume and job hunt!
