Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: The Wrath of Warren

Final:

1. Booker: gold

2. Castro: silver

3. DeBlasio: bronze, not that it will matter

4. Warren: awesome for the first 15 mins, then had a nap

5. Inslee: good as far as it went, which wasn't far enough

6. Ryan: opening act for his 2028 run

7. Gabbard: you probably only hated her if you knew who she was; thankfully not enough

8. Klobuchar: shockngly robotic and insincere

9. Delaney: not even the best Republican on the dais

10. Beto: blood on the tracks

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: The Wrath of Warren

“Too many have profited off of sick people.”

Like yourself Mr. Booker?

**** booker and his disingenuous response. Like he hasn’t been suckling off the teat of big pharma for a decade. He has voted against the public interest in so much of the big pharma bills over the years.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: The Wrath of Warren

Stolen, but "Klobuchar is running for PTA president and she’s got a lock on that." :D

I like Amy as a Senator...she is too boring to be President. She should stay right where she is and keep doing what she is doing.

I didnt watch a second of the debate...I will watch when the field is pared down a bit. This many people is ridiculous.

She wasn't boring tonight she was just "Evasive Politician: Basic Package, no DLC."

I loved her during the K hearings. Tonight she was borderline Hillary awful.

Exactly! His record shows completely different.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: The Wrath of Warren

I am not sure what this means but the only way it is true is if you mean age ;)

(I have said Beto is an empty suit for months...his Q score was the only reason I found him intriguing)

In context it meant liberal Democrats > centrist Democrats.

The centrists did not do well tonight. Amy just went through the motions, Delaney embarrassed himself with his But Trickle Down Works shtick, and they'll be picking chunks of Beto out of Castro's stool for weeks. Gabbard might have actually been the strongest centrist, hilariously.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: The Wrath of Warren

Of all the candidates in the field, I like booker almost the least. He has never come off as bright. He seems like the dumb jock that somehow does good in class but never really understood anything. Overly rehearsed and insincere. I didn’t see the whole debate (later or I’ll listen to it at work tomorrow) but what I saw of his I was severely unimpressed.

It may just be you don't like him. Over at Kos they're putting him either first or second.

It seems like everybody's (except mine) top 3 are Warren/Booker/Castro. I only demoted Warren because she was virtually silent for the last 2/3rds but Kos attributes that to the mods snubbing her.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: The Wrath of Warren

I thought Castro was the one who improved the most in my mind. Before I thought of him as an also ran. But tonight he sounded like a contender. Wasn’t afraid and had god discussion points. Granted, this was mostly around immigration but I’ll get to the rest of the debate tomorrow.

Hey I am only a centrist to people like trix. The candidates I support arent exactly in the center. Well outside of Warren if you ask a Bernie Bro ;)

I want a Progressive, I just understand that no matter how much Mother Jones and Daily Kos says otherwise, there is a block of Center Left voters who like those more center style candidates for reasons that arent racist, sexist, homophobic or hating the poors.

If Bernie won tomorrow no one would be happier than me I was saying in 2007 I wish he would run for President.

On the topic of Booker, I am glad he had a good night, but if you are a Progressive you cant trust him as far as you can throw him. He will sell you out faster than a low level mob drug dealer. Of the "centrists" (in quoted because to a certain segment anyone who isnt 100% pure is a centrist) he is by far the easiest to spot in sheep's clothing. And yet...I wouldnt hesitate if he pulled it out :)

Hopefully people start dropping out in the coming days.

He was a dang good mayor and he is a pretty good Senator. I have never seen him in a debate but when he interviews he is usually top notch and he was great at the "I Like Beer" hearings.

He was strong throughout. Not surprisingly he hit a homerun with immigration but throughout he was good.

I think if you see the entire debate you'll see that Booker was really, really good. I was shocked. I had really been disappointed in him but he rocked the house.

I think the main real takeaways here will be that Booker is still a contender and should get a boost and some cash and Beto is deader than Harold Stassen.

I assume everyone in the field except Warren and Bernie are snakes. I don't mind a snake as long as we have leverage over them to force them to enact liberal policies (e.g. LBJ and for that matter FDR). I don't need a buddy I need a cut-throat pol who knows I have a gun to their belly.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: The Wrath of Warren

The one thing I don't like about debates is that it's like tests in school. Some don't test well, but they really can do the job overall. I didn't see the debate tonight, I was traveling, and while they might narrow down the field, the best debater might not be the best for the job, and vice versa. *shrug*

He was a good posturer in the senate. What legislation did he author or shepherd through? He’s named two post offices, did some sort of 9/11 remembrance bill, did something for coastal units in New Jersey, and a dental health bill.

Of those, maybe the dental health bill has some substance. Klobuchar has 33 bills enacted into law where she was the primary sponsor.

K. I’ll definitely check it out. And you might be right, I might just not like him.

I roll my eyes every time he says the ticket must have a woman on it and he refuses to pick a man for his VP. Gag me with a spoon. So forced.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: The Wrath of Warren

No one is saying we trust Booker, we're just saying he was clearly one of the top 3 in this first round. Debate performances are merely one aspect of a candidacy to be considered.
