Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: The Wrath of Warren

Sorry, but I take everything Shaun King says with a big grain of salt. He's among the more obnoxious members of the Twitter Left.

I just noticed this in Handy's signature:

"It's as if the Drumpf Administration is made up of the worst and unfunny parts of the Cleveland Browns, Washington Generals, and the alien Mon-Stars from Space Jam."

:D :D :D :D

Thanks. It was one of my good quips that got buried in the many POTUS threads.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: The Wrath of Warren

Yeah I hear that, I think his overall point here is well taken even if he messed that part up (I think we all know that guy isn't actually Biden's father).

Pretty sure they have a good relationship, hence why he's not attacking her.

I really don't see much difference between Bernie and Warren. Warren has more fleshed out, and better policy ideas IMO, but Bernie was out there campaigning last time on all of it. I'm not understanding how these people are so confused about the word socialism. Technically Bernie isn't socialism either the way they're defining it. I don't think anyone in the Democratic Party is proposing that the Government OWN the means of production. So, if that's what socialism means then the word should never have been used. Cause then socialism has nothing to do with Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security. It also has nothing to do with tax policy. Yet, you say raise taxes on 50 million and above to 70% and they call that socialism.

****ing stupid.

Please someone end the ****ing stupidity in this country.

That's the dumbest ****ing thing he's said yet. Warren a centrist and a corporate liberal. LOL!

I know we all talked about this last week, but the bros are going to eat this up.

Bernie is more to the left on economics; Warren is more to the left on social policy. The corporate owners are always willing to give ground on social which they don't care about for fiscal which is all they care about.

It's always a good thing to push race and gender narratives that keep people alienated from the Left rather than allow a major party to embrace center-left economic policies that have been centrist in Europe for a generation. Gotta keep that SOCIALISM!!!!111 boogeyman alive for Wall Street's profits, and to keep the aged Boomer centrists in power in the DNC.

Please show me where he says either of these things...

As for the main differences between Warren and Bernie, her equivocation on his Medicare for All plan would be the main one in terms of policy. I would also say there are some serious foreign policy differences. Obviously their rhetoric is quite a bit different too.

This was the crap they floated last week. They are scared...

From Elizabeth Warren's Facebook.

When antitrust regulators let giant corporations put profits over workers and consumers, this is what happens. Disney is on track to make $9 BILLION at the box office in 2019. CEO Bob Iger took home $65.7 million last year. And workers are facing layoffs.

Which is talking about this article from Variety.

Another Round of Layoffs Hit Disney and 20th Century Fox Film Divisions (EXCLUSIVE)

And she's right. I see it every day in my job. All this consolidation and globalization does is pump money to the 1%. It does nothing for consumers or workers. Shareholders win.

It needs, no begs, for actual regulation.

It's implied in the Tweet. Centrist Ds are getting on the Warren Wagon, so now it's "Anyone But MEEEEEEEEE!" and "I'm the only real progressive in the race!"

Handy was right. This is the line of attack against her, and he's starting to show his hand.

This is true of my company as well: record profits for the last 2 decades accompanied by a squeeze on benefits and the elimination of pensions for new hires. Every time there is a merger upper management gets bonuses, the owners do a stock buyback, and workers get laid off or pitted against each other.

Capitalism is brutality with a very shiny paint job.

It's not implied in the tweet, he's attacking the third way because they're garbage and his campaign team has literally stated as such. If third way endorses her then she can either distance herself from them or not, that's her prerogative.

Also about those policy differences:

Exactly. And it never ceases to amaze me (even with the philanthropy of some) that the 1%er class thinks this is a good idea. I don't get it.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: The Wrath of Warren

We seem to be lacking an all star candidate IMO. Biden and Sanders are past their time, Warren comes off as unlikeable in many ways (and I'm not sure a Massachusetts senator is the answer to winning back Mich, Wisco and Penn), Moulton and Mayor Pete are potentially great future candidates but ahead of their time IMO, Booker has the resume, but seemingly no groundswell beneath him at this time, Harris could be good but still limited on senate experience.

Have to admit I'm a bit worried.
