Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers: Boogaloo

Because they're making up fake identity issues like they did last time and we all saw how well that worked out.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers: Boogaloo

Why because that means they wont be supporting Bernie? Siskind is right if they put up a boring white male they will be behind the 8 ball.

I'd potentially vote for a boring white male, as long as he's not geriatric. Bernie is too old. Sorry to discriminate based on age, but I'm gonna.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers: Boogaloo

I'm ageist this cycle. The time of the Boomers needs to end, not recycled into their late 70's.

I have no issues with boring white males per se...but the outrage over the comment is only because Bernie (and Biden to a small extent) are popular candidates that fit the mold.

From a purely selfish standpoint I'd be very happy to see Harris/Castro or Harris/Klobuchar. Not sure Beto would take a VP appointment if he lost the primary.

Sorry, but Klobuchar's record speaks for itself. She's top-of-ticket.
Castro or Harris or Robert Francis O'Roarke may apply for the second slot.

Then again, where's my D governor that's a viable ticket topper? Colorado guy, Whatzenhammerhisnamer*, maybe?

*Hickenlooper.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers: Boogaloo

If Bernie is the nominee, I'm getting high as a kite the night before the general.

Biden is too old.

At this point, I'm fine with O'Rourke, Brown (who won't run), or any of the women except Warren and Oprah.

My pipe dream would be to see Nimrata Haley try to primary Trump, but that has a snowball's chance in Hell of ever happening.

I'm a total novice on such items and am not trying to predict viability nor likelihoods.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers: Boogaloo

I've been as much of Klobuchar fan as there's been on the boards. But presidential runs put a spotlight on personalities and I fear that of all her strengths she lacks the public facing passion/toughness that goes far in leadership. I do see her as a risk...and we just can't have a candidate with flaws even if they're strengths in so many other ways.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers: Boogaloo

Every candidate has a set of flaws, but that set only matters if they're important to the electorate.

True. To your point, there are situations where flaws are accentuated. Perceived toughness is more important in achieving the white house than it is to become a senator of MN. It wouldn't surprise me if Klobuchar would be the best sitting president on the list - the question is whether she can get there.

Following the GOP practice in 2016, will the Dems field an "undercard" debate?

Should there be promotion / relegation (A Flight, B Flight, talk shows) after every round?

Put them all on the stage for the first debate - 3 hours. Everyone gets one chance to sink or swim.

Polling cuts further invites to the Top 8 (or, depending on the size of the field, Top 6 or Top 4). Standard procedure from there until the first primaries.

Klobuchar is too short and ugly

I wonder how early she had to get up to have her face covered last Sunday to appear on TV?
