Well you said the wrong thing because most employers aren’t paying much for health insurance these days.
My employer is paying like $20,000 per year for my insurance.
Would I pay $20,000 + my premium for single payer?

2. I agree. I liked your plan better.2 I think Keps and my plan was superior to that piece of garbage that was enacted.
3 if limited to community college or the cost of the the first 2 years of the "official" state college. You're not getting free private college.
1 is a bottomless cash pit. No.

3. Yes. Community or Tech School. No private colleges.
1. We'll get there eventually no matter what. It's time for some good ideas.
2 years of community college or a trade school should be part of public education in addition to pre-k through 12
No it isnt which is why it wouldnt be that big of a deal for it to be paid for by the government.
Meh. Personally I’d rather allocate those dollars to our existing public education. If someone wants to go to community college they can have a few thousand bucks if skin in the game.
The government used to fund four year universities far better back in the day which is part of why they were more affordable. Cal was free to attend up until the 70’s I believe as were a number of other universities.

What should Democrats run on?
1. Single Payer Health Reform
2. Real Tax Reform. Not that BS the Republicans just passed.
3. Free Two Years of college. Drastically reduce the interest rate on ALL remaining college debt.
I would be running on those three items right now. And I'd be hammering them over and over and over again.
It’s maddening how many people don’t get this concept
Anyone’s company is not passing health ins savings on to you.![]()
If it’s 3 mookie wants a refund for all the loans he paid off. F that
Yup, and while I think single payer advocates are well meaning, they really need to not promise that employers will bump up workers paychecks by the amount of savings they reap from not having to provide health insurance. If you see 1% of that savings consider yourself lucky. Only way to guarantee getting that money back is to jack up employer payroll taxes accordingly which may be the way to go.
Mookie went through his reform for education couple weeks ago. Need for “college ed” in most jobs can be completed in high school now (or should be).
There’s your free college.
My point is that we’re spending a crap ton now and it’s not being done in the best way. The people who generally tell me how terrible single payer is are people who have never spent a day working in one
I know my employer is paying $20,000 for my insurance. The list it out as part of my total compensation -- each year the mail me something that shows how much they pay me in salary, towards my retirement, health insurance, life insurance. If we get single payer, and if it is not largely paid pay a payroll tax on the employer, you better believe I expect a pay bump or else I'll find a company that _will_ pay me more.
