Re: 2019 Schedules

I don't have a full schedule but I know the Windjammer Classic tournament over Thanksgiving weekend will have UVM, Penn St, Mankato, and Clarkson.

Good luck to all the girls and parents that have been to Burlington like 5 times prior to college;). We should be able to walk and drive around there blindfolded.

Re: 2019 Schedules

Wisconsin's schedule has been posted for a couple weeks now; but, oddly, there has been no email or other sort of 'announcement' saying 'the schedule it out', etc. So, take this with a grain of salt?

The current UW release doesn't include game times. You have also have quite a few series where 3 dates are reserved for two games. In other words, even the dates haven't been determined.

I imagine that the marketing will kick in once precise dates & tentative face-off times are set.

That's all pretty normal at this stage. Much of that won't get set for quite a while, and is almost certainly not the reason for a 'full announcement'.

Dates and times for women's hockey getting set depends on men's hockey schedule, men's and women's BB schedules - all currently not yet announced - and football and volleyball schedules - dates announced, but not times.

The volleyball schedule also currently has much "TBA" for game times, but it was 'formally' announced at the time it appeared on the web site.

Well, then I guess only the UW Marketing people know for sure. Maybe it's something simple, like the person responsible for the formal hockey announcement is on vacation or on short-term leave.

The basis for my original guess: In the past, OSU Women's Hockey also adjusted start times in response to other teams' schedules, most notably Football. It was just last year that Women's Hockey changed the default policy. The new presumption is that WIH start times won't be adjusted, even for Football. Never say never, but last season they stuck with it. My guess was that the relative certainty allowed for an earlier announcement at OSU. And, that the relative uncertainty at UW yielded a preference for delay. But if you say that's not the case, I'll take your word for it.

For those of us on USCHO, does it really make any difference? The information is available on the WCHA and school websites; it's being chatted up on the board. We're in the know. The casual fans will get their memo soon enough.

Starting a new program playing two games each against UCONN, Wisconsin and Yale... problem seems to be that Wisco is playing Princeton on those same dates

(Sorry, not sure how to link on an iPad)

Wisconsin has a club team don't they? That's probably the correct team.

Princeton trip got kiboshed from what I heard

Re: 2019 Schedules

Why would a premier program like Wisconsin schedule a series with a newcomer? What's the takeaway for Wisconsin?

fixed the link. see the tags before and after the link.

Only reason UW is to help a new program off the ground and to play the 4th/5th liners in a real game. The RPI will not be affected (unless UW loses or ties).

Oh, and see how many times Watts lights the lamp?

Mark Johnson loves to promote and support the women's game, therefore UW usually plays Lindenwood every year, they went out west a few yrs ago and played in Cali, and this year they are playing in PA over the Thanksgiving weekend. This fits that m.o. I would also think if the Princeton series died, they need to play someone that weekend. I really doubt Soup will play at all and it would be a great series to play the 3rd and 4th liners a lot to get them some game action.

pad their stats, they've always played Lindenwood in the past and getting the CHA in the NCAA first round
in a way you can't blame them, playing in the WCHA where goals are much harder to come by puts players at a disadvantage for recognition
recall a couple years ago they played Clarkson and swept them, but in the process probably gave Clarkson a confidence boost and insight that they can beat them, and did in the NCAA's
probably don't want to repeat that, Princeton will be top 10 and likely NCAA berth this year
I see they have added Harvard & BC now that they suck lol

it's great that they are trying to expand the game to hillbillies in Tennessee :0
