2019 Schedules

Re: 2019 Schedules

As listed on the web site of the still not officially announced Wisconsin schedule, the Princeton series for Oct 18 and 19 is no longer there. That is a change that happened with in the last day or two. There is nothing currently listed for that weekend, and nothing 'new' has been added - including any mention of LIU.

So... stay tuned?

And now the UW web site lists the LIU series. Friday night Oct 18, Sat afternoon, Oct 19.

Somebody must be doing somebody a big favor....

Re: 2019 Schedules

they could use the Lindenwood method to avoid a sweep

gas 'em

You're joking, of course, but there was an article on the web site or in the local newspaper that talked about how the UW team trainers, etc, now carry carbon monoxide detectors with them on the road, so that that never happens again.

Re: 2019 Schedules

There seem to be more showcases and in-season tournaments than I remember in the past. UMD alone plays in three. One nice thing about such events is that they increase the number of opponents a typical team plays and provide a better overall comparison of teams. Well, maybe not the Minnesota Cup or the Beanpot where the teams are already playing each other anyway, but those like the Icebreaker or Battle at the Burgh do.

Re: 2019 Schedules

Mark Johnson loves to promote and support the women's game, therefore UW usually plays Lindenwood every year, they went out west a few yrs ago and played in Cali, and this year they are playing in PA over the Thanksgiving weekend. This fits that m.o. I would also think if the Princeton series died, they need to play someone that weekend. I really doubt Soup will play at all and it would be a great series to play the 3rd and 4th liners a lot to get them some game action.

This is consistent with my memory (failing though it is). I'm pretty sure MJ and the Badgers played at Lindenwood, Syracuse, and Penn State in their inaugural years of D-1.

Plus, as was alluded to in another post (might be LIU's biggest gate), there are a lot of UW alum pretty much everywhere. Can't help it - big schools have lot of alum. This is a chance for NYC Badgers to see one of their teams. The Men's BB team went out there a few years ago and the crowd was big.

I need to attend a game out there now to re-accomplish my "seen every D-1 program on their home ice" claim.

Re: 2019 Schedules

Syracuse Schedule is out. Another very strong non conference schedule. The first 9 opponents were nationally ranked last season. "You don't get better by playing weak teams"
